Lets see, they are all basically the same ball according to the spec's.
I wouldn't get Lane 1 Droid nobody here uses Lane 1. plus it costs more and is the weakest.
People like the Nexxus, but I don't want Brunswick (but if I won one I'd take it), plus most of its hook is from the coarse grit sanding the cover has.
Storm and Rotogrip are the same companies either one is fine, I'd get the roto to go with my others. Rotogrip has the best bang for the buck most of the time.

Did you have a bad experience with Brunswick in the past? I did last year with Roto-Grip. Not there products but rather their lack of service. Let's just say it was bad enough that I put away all my Storm and Roto-Grip toys, bought a whole new arsenal and haven't taken their stuff out of the closet yet.

No I didn't have bad experience, I used the zone balls back in the day. I just moved on from them, the other companies were making better ones (ie: more powerful) at the time.
Just after I stopped using Brunswick balls, they starting getting a bad Rep. for having bland, weak balls. The other companies tech. was leaving them behind and they fell out of favor everywhere.
They have only started coming back in the last few years. Though they had a small setback when they moved mfg. to Mexico and the balls had some problems (plus not being made in America anymore.)

That's the reason I would pick up a lane 1. I like to use things other people don't use. I wouldn't touch a storm, the smell factor makes me sick. I have bowled with people who had fresh drilled balls and the smell literally made me sick to my stomach.

The reason nobody here use's Lane 1, isn't because there's anything wrong with them. It's just Lane 1 has always been more of a regional company. With you finding their stuff heavy in just certain areas around the country. Their just not really carried here.

I'm not even sure it's a regional thing. Lane 1 is a NY company based about 3 1/2 hours from where I live, yet not one local pro shop carries their ball. When you ask about the smaller company balls the shops try and steer you towards something more known. When I was looking for a too reckless DV8 ball I had one pro shop tell me I didn't want Mexican brunswick junk I should go with a storm crossroad. It's pretty frustrating too if I have done my research and decided on something I want don't tell me it's not a good choice, just take my money and get me what I want. Luckily I have found a good driller and just order online now.

All my Storm and Roto-Grips balls said "Made in China" on the box. I'm still not sure if that was just the box or the balls.

I was under the impression that Roto grip and Storm were meade in America? Utah?

Unless it changed recently Roto Grip is made in Utah. Now if it was made in china I wouldn't have a problem with it. Unless they start putting radioactive or hazardous waste in them (like in the dry wall or fake viagra pills)
Who makes Roto Grip Bowling Balls?
Roto Grip products are manufactured at Storm Products, Inc. in Brigham City, UT. Roto Grip was purchased by Storm in 1997 and since then all balls have been made in Utah. Roto Grip designs their own cores and covers to be unique and not similar to Storm balls. Although you should see some similarities in our products because they are made on the same manufacturing lines.

well.. I went bowling today and the pro shop guy told me that new stocks will be coming for roto grip in June.. so i guess i'll just wait till than.. and thn.. he said about storm too.. they are good at the start.. but dies down faster as they absorb more oil thn others.. (don't know how true it is)

so brunswick is better thn storm in your opinion uh?? right? personally I don't really like storm after seeing reviews about frantic dying out after 50 games.. vivid being strong for the first part of its life and thn die out faster thn other brands ball.. so.. i guess storm is out for me.. whats left is maybe DV8, Roto grip maybe lane 1 too..

it's personal opinion, but for me, yes brunswick currently better than storm.. but maybe only slightly.. (if you watch F1, the difference between Brunswick and Storm is maybe 0.1-0.2s in terms of F1 cars.. lol)

even if i add in a DV8 HRR you'll still choose the droid? most ppl here don't like lane 1 if im not wrong because they are the "weakest" as i've read somewhere before.. cant really remember..

Yep, I'd still get the Droid. If I were bowling on 44 ft of oil, I'd get one of the other balls, but I (and most people) never see that much oil, so why get something so strong? I can play the sweet spot of the lane better with something that is a little weaker. Plus I saw a couple at the USBC Nationals and liked the way they rolled, saw some good scores with them.
For clarity, the Droid is the "weakest" of the balls you listed. Lane #1 isn't the "weakest" brand out there as a generality. Everyone has strong balls, everyone has weak balls. The Droid isn't the strongest ball that Lane #1 makes, it's just the newest. The balls that you listed of other brands are all the strongest balls those brands make, so it's not really a great comparison.

If they, moved their mfg to Mexico, I will not be using their product! I am BIG on buying as much American Made as Possible!! I know its hard now days! Go to Walmart, try to find anything not made in China? Sam Walton would turn over in his grave if he knew. He use to put American Flags by all the products made in USA, and did his best to purchase American Made Products! NOT SO ANYMORE!! SAD. I do my best to buy Good Quality Products made here~ IN the Good Old USA~~

I personally like Brunswick an I am getting the Nexxus.... But I find the discussion of Brunswick somewhat frustrating. I've only been bowling about 4 years and bought the C-System series balls. I asked bowlers and pro shop operators about Brunswick and kept getting the same answers. They are less angular and moved from the U.S.. I asked "well what about the reviews on bowlingball dot com?" I was told "Don't pay any attention to that". Well, the fact that they (bowlingball.com) actually do sell bowling balls from all manufacturers makes me want to trust them more. Plus, when was the last time you actually threw a Brunswick ball? Their reply is always, "Well buy what you want but .... is better".
I say all of this to ask, "Why would a person talk down a product that they haven't tried?" (This is not directed at anyone in this thread) Has anyone else experienced this? Are there pro shop operators out there that actually recommend Brunswick? (I'd like to here from you)
Another observation: Then after buying Brunswick I have to have them drill it. (Frustrating - but working on a solution)

Brunswick was before manufactured in the US.. but after it moves to Mexico, many people stop buying from them.. no idea why so too..

I was told by a pro shop owner that most have deals with certain manufacturers and get better deals from those specific manufacturers. So naturally some will tend to push the product they make the highest profit percentage on. The shops who care more about helping others reach their goals and want a great reputation worry less about profit percentage and more about customer service. In the end these end up being the more profitable shops.
There are some pro shop operators on this site that I'm sure will correct me if the information I was told is wrong.

surely they have deals if im not wrong... to get more quantity in exchange of lowering the prices.. this makes them bring in more of that brand of balls and selling them at lower price i believe than other shops which don't bring in as much and doesn't have the deal..

Well think about it, if the shop is listed on manufacturer A's website but not on manufacturer B's site then who do you think they get the better price from? Most of it is basic economics 101 and business management 101, pure black and white. Too bad real life has so much gray area that lots of the corporate world just can't understand.
