I bowl on a Friday night. I usually arrive 2 hours earlier to practice. I normally play 3 games before league play. I feel like I am using to much energy, before I play in my league, to practice. How much practice should I have before league play?

That will probably be something your body will tell you. If you are getting sore and worn out before the end of the night skip a couple of practice games. I typically don't practice before any league night. A couple of practice balls to see how the lane is and go from there.

It's definitely a personal preference. During the week I don't go in early. In the past I have bowled up to 20 games on a Saturday before bowling league; big, huge, awful mistake. The time sitting after practice, waiting for the lanes to be oiled, practice time to start, etc. I really tightened up.

We used to go in a little early and get a game in before league, but we don't anymore. Not sure why we stopped, probably when we changed houses before.

I always just throw a few practice shots during the 10 minute practice
session before we start to bowl for score we hardly ever have anyone
come in early and bowl a few games before league starts. I guess the
main reason is they do not oil the lanes until right before we start our
10 minute practice session.

I practice 12oz. arm curls before league night. Loosens my arm right up.

I know this will sound strange, but I do my best after 4 or 6 practice games. Not sure, but I think it settles me down to the point I am real relaxed. I know when my wife and I practice I always have my best games toward the end. .. usually!!

Curl some water or Gatorade. It's not the "what's" in the container but the weight lol

I agree with "TheIronMan"
Everyone is different, but 15-20 shots should be sufficient. I suggest trying to time it so that not much time elapses before you start practice in league. As you get older, you'll understand why this is important!

I think it depends on how many games you bowl when your just there for practice. When I was on a youth league, I would never bowl other than the practice right before scoring started for the league. When I would do open bowling I would do 3 games just like in the league. This got me use to bowling three games in a row and I would be use to it. Since getting back into and trying to get my average back up. I usually bowl 6 games for practice on non-league days. So on league days I bowl three practice and my leauge games end up being the higher games. This is also the case for the 6 practice games i do on non-league days. Again I think it depends on how many games you bowl during open(non-league) bowling. But we are all different. If you find yourself getting tired after two practice games and the league games, figure out what game you are getting tired in and subtract that amount of frames from what you do before the league starts.
