For the most part, yes. For some reason, some people can get the Storm Ice to hook a board or two.

i tried the Columbia 300 WD.. couldn't really hook.. maybe because of the lanes.. i don't know :(

You need dry lanes to hook a plastic ball. I was on bone dry lanes last week and couldn't keep the Maxim on the right side of the lane. If there is a decent amount of oil, the plastic balls go pretty straight, which is what makes them so good for spare balls.

You can play the 5 board on a fresh THS and still hook plastic albeit speed, rotation and revs do obviously play a very important role.

This is true. I did play up the 5 before I got the Tiger. But on a THS, that is pretty dry. I'm bowling tonight, and I hope there is at least a tiny bit of oil on the lanes.

The difference is that the Brunswick T-Zone is made in Mexico, and Ebonite's and Storm's are made in China. For some reason, Americans can't make plastic bowling balls. All of Ebonite's and Storm's other balls are made in America. All of Brunswicks are made in Mexico. As far as performance, I would say they are all the same. I have seen more chipping while drilling from the Brunwick balls, but nothing to be alarmed about. Truthfully, just pick which one looks the coolest unless you get a sponsor ;) If you look in Storm's new catalog, they have a Brain Storm spare ball coming that is pretty bad ***.

Thank you Dan. I had posted before how I was shocked when I purchased a Storm ball and the box said "Made in China". I was hoping it was just the box that was made there but obviously it had to be my plastic ball.

There can be only one reason the balls are made in other countries like China,,,, CHEAP Labor, more, and more profit!! At what point does a man profit, when there are no people working in his country to purchase his product!! Greed is not Good! (from a movie, but in the movie he states the opposite)! Name it for 100,034, imaginary $$$! And what was the characters name in that movie that made the statement! (:)

Your correct~~ You win the (imaginary trip to Wall Street), where you can see just how the big boys play with YOUR MONEY!! LOL.... While your
bowling, they are rolling in YOUR dough! lol!! I do wish this distrubing trend of making things in other countries where in many cases slave like conditions
exist, would END!! I will not buy products that I know for sure are produced using slave like conditions in any country! I am not saying the bowling balls are, I need to research that topic. But its still sad they we don't make it here.... I know we have a lot of people out of work, that would love a job. I could go on about this subject.,,,, but this is a FUN, learning website!!! enough said!!

Wow, with all that imaginary cash I could buy the finest imaginary bowling ball arsenal in the world. Lol. My Radical ball is stamped along with the serial number "Made in the USA". Of course they don't make a spare ball yet. maybe since the plastic balls are all more or less the same they send them out for manufacture whereas the high dollar balls have such proprietary secrets such as core design and coverstock chemistry that they don't trust the overseas (or over border) company not to steal the design.

Let me tell you this about China!! You can't keep a secret from them when it comes to copying a product...... Its maybe a matter of not enough volume warrant, making them at THIS TIME! I know they are the worse at stealing, and makeing their own version of just about anything you can imagine! Good program on 60 minutes on that a few weeks ago.

I agree with that statement Bill! There is VERY LITLE real investigative News out there anymore! I call most of them propaganda machines, not unlike the lobbyist in Washington DC!! You might find some real truth on the net.... but I rarely watch what many think is News on cable! I watch once in a while! To quote a very smart man who conquered the know world in his time: (KEEP YOUR FRIENDS CLOSE, and YOUR ENEMIES every closer)!
Name that Warrior for a Happy Meal when every your in the K.C. area!! (:) Being a history buff, I am very leery, and suspicious of most things things I hear as Real News, Fair and Balanced News, ect...... lol How do I work Bowling into this thread???? Do YOU know what Russian Bowling Team won the 1934 Olympics!!

There are a few plastic balls that are diffeent however. Balls such as Lane#1's XXXL and Sarburst have the diamond core in them. The Taboo spare has the gas mask core. And Ebonite had the Wolf and Werewolf with dynamic cores in them

Were these balls given these cores to create hook potential?

The Taboo spare has the gas mask core.
I have yet to understand why Hammer calls the (Taboo Spare) a spare ball??
We have several guys here that throws them and they hook just as good or
they even hook better than a lot of their other high dollar equipment does.
