Tonight is the night. Going to meet with a few folks from my congregation and head over to the lanes tonight. I got my Bowling Boards Nexxus drill up Tuesday and I cannot wait...

nice man what kind of layout did you use

I used a pin down layout for midlane hook and back-end. If you look at Bowlingball.com and look up the Nexxus, you will find layout #2. Since my track is medium to higher, I used Parker Bohn's favorite layout in layout #2.

Well, I am just getting home from my Nexxus shake down and I think it was a good and successful night. It took me a few frames to figure the Nexxus out. The ball flat out hooks where my other aggressive balls do not (for example my Critical Theory and Vivid). In my first 5 frames, I had 4 opens. One of my first balls crossed over so badly that I got a 5 count and missed the spare. I knew that I had a beast on my hands. Following the advice given me by another member of this board, I did something counter intuitive and moved RIGHT - with my feet and my target. After that start, I saved a 191. After that, I threw (in order) a 214, a 213, a 257 and then a 226. My total for my 5 games was a 1101. I missed a LOAD of spares and had 11 corner pin leaves. If I could have carried half of those corner pins, I may have hit 1200...I REALLY like this ball.

Glad to hear how well it went. The ball is a beauty. It's recovery and ability to make it through carry down is amazing. You will figure out a line for you and get the rest of those corner pins. I'm particular ecstatic to hear you at least tried moving right, against all known logic :D People think I'm strange when I move right but with a ball like the Nexxus, it works. It rolls and uses it's old spot as a back board to hit the pocket. I also love opening the lane up with this ball when the other team is loaded with strokers. Basically, I like to play where nobody is and this ball lets me do it.

thats some really nice games i wish i could get those games but latly i have barly been throwing my avg just like 2 weeks ago only shot a 90 non of my balls would hook they would only slid down the lane where i had to start throwing it to the pocket eather way to much oil on the lanes for the Hr or there was water in the oil

I didn't try moving left (left handed) because I started on the oil line and it kept hooking. I'll have to give that a shot and see what happens.

I am a physics buff so thinking outside the box is normal. Sometimes it's been said my box is so small you can't even tell it's there. That's what made me try moving in the opposite direction from conventional wisdom. If the ball is too strong, why not move both feet and target more to the ball side? My thinking was that the extra friction would absorb some of the energy. I couple that with some extra revs. The extra revs are suppose to allow more skid. Combining more skid with less skid due to friction and I ended up with about the same distance at my break point. Then the core and the "ledge" built from the previous rolls guide the ball into the pocket. If I'm leaving ten pins I may move even more ball side or play with the speed. How long I take to decide which adjustment and when depends on how much is at stake that game. In all honesty, the more riding on the game the faster I adjust and pick the easiest adjustment first.

I could see burning off the energy on the way down. I've done that with other equipment and they seemed to roll out early and hit like a purse. But the experiment is defintely worth performing.

The Nexxus hits like a purse.........with a brick in it. Most of the time it does for me any how. I had a shot last night during practice that sounded like an empty tin can. It definitely left me scratching my head but then they rack started messing up. The employee came back with a broken pin. I'm hoping that was the cause of the funny noise and seriously weak hit.
