aiming to get a new ball for dry - medium lane oiling as now both my balls the Hell Raiser Revenge and the Lane 1 MaxXx Curve both are for heavier oil patterns.. After the 3rd game of the competition, my ball was going brooklyn.. thought of getting either the DV8 Misfit or the Brunswick Versa-Max.. (Versa Max because i thought of getting a solid color ball).. Dilemma now... roar!!!

DV8 Marauder or Misfit. The Versa-max would be too strong for your release when it gets dry.

I would also suggest the Storm Tropical Heat Silver/Black Hybrid. That is a great ball for what you are looking for.

Another thing to try; stand with your right foot on the 5 board and release at 5, across the first arrow (or the 3 board if you dare).

The ones you have. They will burn up some energy but should still have enough to drive through the pocket.

i'll try it when i go for bowling again this week hopefully.. anyway.. I chose Misfit/Marauder and Versa Max because they were all of the same coverstock.. thats why.. meant for medium lanes.. so yea.. hopefully i can get the Marauder if the color turns out nice.. if not.. it's the misfit.. hee!

Any reason why you are not into the Tropical line? That ball is an excellent quaity piece of equipment. Don't let the name turn you off...

will the Marauder be too strong in the hook? because it's not gonna be much use if it's too strong.. I'm considering the misfit more now.. lol..

The Marauder may be too strong. The Misfit is a great ball especially now that the price has dropped. It's almost $100 less now than when I bought mine in January.

I'd find a different shop as he took you to the cleaners on that ball. He tripled his cost. We sell them for $150.00 drilled with slug and grips including tax

well, i'm based in Singapore.. They do need to calculate in the postage fees all that to their customers.. It's almost the same price all around here.. so i guess it wont be tripling his cost. but they do sure earn a bit more..

Actually Eugene might have already done the conversion......Buying a ball at our proshop here (+ free drilling) will run you about 300$. I get mine off the internet and bring them to him to drill, but it can be really expensive. The first time I bought a ball/bag/shoes from bowlingball.com, the shipping cost more than all 3 together!. Right now I order from a website based in Berlin.....they are obviously more expensive than bowlingball.com, but the shipping only costs me about 25 bucks. Then I also have to pay another 80 for drilling + inserts.
You guys in the states better appreciate how good you have it! Bowling is pretty expensive for us here overseas.

Also Eugene, just my 2 cents....
I was also recently looking for a med. oil ball, and had it narrowed down to the Misfit or the Massive Damage from Brunswick. I ended up going for the massive damage (sorry Bill :)) because I wanted to try out a ball with a pearl coverstock. While I was waiting for it to be drilled, I started to kind of get buyer's remorse and started thinking maybe I should have gone with the Misfit after all, but now that I've got it and played a few games with it, I'm very happy with it. It gets down the lane and kicks real hard into the pocket. I've also heard from some really good bowlers that the massive damage is a very good ball. I'm sure you would be happy with either one though.....just like I'm sure I would probably have been just as happy with the Misfit.

Eugene......check out bowling ball.com and look at the balls with a perfect scale rating below 180. Also suggest you get a "symmetrical" ball using a mild drilling something that will save the ball's energy longer and slide further. You need a drilling that will send the ball longer down the lane.
