I picked up my Ebonie Matrix spare ball and went to the Early Bird Special at Air Lanes for $1.29 per game. Bowled 3 games and I'm happy to to report my arm felt great. I was there 5 minutes before opening time of 10 am and the place was packed, mostly with fairly serious bowlers. Luckily I shared the lane with a couple playing very casually with house balls. I was very worried to get real serious players who would think my game sucks horribly... I'm just way out of shape.
Game #1 started with a strike but I left frames 2, 4,5,6,7,8 and 9 ope for a pretty poor 119.
Games #2 rocked! I spared frames 1 and 2. Then threw 4 strikes in a row and spared frame 7. Frame 8 and 9 were both left open and I spared frame 10 and had one extra strike in frame 11 for a score of 195! Not bad at all, 195 is better than my average in the old days and is one of the top 20 games I've ever bowled so overall I'm feeling good and showing promise.
Game #3 was ok but nothing special at 130. By the end of game #3 my arm was gone and I had a gutterball and a 3 on the 10th frame...
Overall I threw a 148 average, a good 20 points higher than the previous practice and closer to what I used to bowl. My first ball average came down a little bit from 8.0 to 7.9. Strike percentage increased from 30% to 34.4%. I was still very inconsistent in picking up spares but better than last time picked up 33.3% of spares, up from 14.3%. 37.5% of single pin spares, much better than 0% last time.
Halfway through game one of the finger inserts in my brand new Spare ball flew out and disappeared into the lane so I'll have to take it in to get repaired...
If my arm is feeling up to it and I'm caught up on homework somewhat I'll try to go throw 2-3 games tomorrow either at Merle Hay Lanes or Val Lanes, both have $1.50 per game tomorrow night.
