  1. Attacking a Flat Oil Pattern

Greetings! Has anyone else noticed that many tournaments and scratch leagues are putting out flat to reverse oil patterns out. These patterns are tough! An arrant shot to the right (speaking from a righties perspective) sends you skidding to a certain 2-10 split and a tugged shot puts you through the beak. Today's low rg/high diff equipment can only serve you well if you are brave enough to venture off your Zone 2 break point (7 board at approx. 40-45 feet). I am a tweener, bordering on power player, ...

  2. Bowling and the Art of War

Another find from my archive, my look at Applying the Art of War to bowling.

    "The Art Of Bowling"

Over two thousand years ago a Chinese warrior-philosopher named Sun-Tzu
wrote a book called The Art of War, it's a book on strategy that can

  3. To Spare Ball or Not To Spare Ball, That is The Question.

On bowlingboards there is a message thread that talks about the use of spare balls. I was part of the discussion there on using spare balls or not. I was taught at a young age not to try so much for a strike but to focus on picking up the spare. this meant changing my start position to allow my ball to curve back to pick up the spare or hit the pins just so to pick up the spare. With thinking about this topic, I decided to take my Brunswick Ambush(12lb) ball with me to my latest practice session. ...
  4. Lane Lovers Jubilee update (THREE-WAY TIE!!!)

What a great night of bowling for my team, Showtime. We were able to pull out three game win and also took the series total. It was a great night and we all were pretty much on point. I started out kind of rough but was able to get it together part way through the second game to finish with a strong first game. The first place team, Hot Mess, pulled out a complete sweep of Summer Cooler. The second place team, Pin and Tonics, bowled my team and we swept them. This caused them to drop out of ...
  5. Open(practice) Session

A few days ago I went and did some bowling. During this session I tried out some techniques that were mentioned on http://www.bowlingboards.com/forum.php. The first is two finger bowling. The second is tucking the pinky finger. I had never thought much about any of these things at all till I went to the above site and read a little about. After asking some questions about it, I still didn't understand it fully and felt the only way for a left handed bowler to under stand these things. It would ...
