Well I am back with the blog from our Monday night pairs league, it started two Mondays ago but I had to miss the first night as I had done my back in (pulled my muscle) so I could not play, with that I could not move never mind play. Anyway we have changed our name to M N S just to make it quicker to type in to the computer.
I will still be with my nephew Macca, but for the first week he will be bowling with john my brother in law.

Well, Wednesday night was another struggle on the lanes. Again, I though I was going to do well at the start of the night. I opened up the 1st game by leaving a solid 9, and followed that up with a double. After that, I didn't find the pocket again until the 9th frame (where I got a pocket 7-10 split). I have noticed how styles of bowling have changed. I have seen lefty, righty, both hands, feet, (handicap guy with no arms. has a 212 average.) no thumb hole, no middle finger hole. All with different outcomes and history. Some people believe that bowling should be done with one hand so that it is fair. Well with each style comes it's own flaws and benefits. I felt a lot more confident tonight as we were getting ready to bowl. However, that did not translate into the scores I anticipated. I had 5 strikes the first game. The problem was that 4 out of 5 of them came on the left lane. I rolled a clean game with one double for a 202. The 2nd game, the lanes transitioned, and I did not make the correct adjustments, and I had 3 splits in a row, and had a total of 4 splits in the 2nd game. I ended up rolling a 164 for the 2nd game. Had a pretty bad week last week, and circumstances didn't allow me to get any practice until today (and didn't bowl on Wed due to my wife being sick). How many times have you seen a team mate throw a bad frame, only to lose their cool and subsequently it costs them an open the very next frame? It happens all the time, and I bet each and every one of us who have ever picked up a bowling ball and bowled competitively have a similar experience to what I just mentioned, only it is YOU, and not a team mate, who is the culprit.

So yesterday I got to do my first day of bowling after coach suggested that I make some changes to my approach. Seems that I was starting too close to the line, and doing a 4 step approach that made my timing very early, and putting more muscle than is needed in my swing. Also the suggestion came that I should start with the ball at the center of my body, thereby encouraging a figure-8 swing to help me project out more.

Well here we are the last week of the doubles and we are lying in 6th place after our last game where we lost 6 – 2, we are 1 point off 5th and 5 points off 4th so all we can do is go for all 8 points and hope that the other teams drop points. There was no game last Monday due to a bank holiday so we have had to wait two weeks for this game and I have not been able to get near a bowling lane. So here we go.

Sept 1-Beaver-Vu.
To facilitate the healing of the bicep tendon tear, the doc put me in a full arm cast Friday. Up until bowling, it hasnt been too hateful, but the cast is harder to bowl with than the splint.
Started out with 3 in a row, finished at 212, but lost to my opponent by 1 (dang handicap!) I think this house will be my "character" house, as the scores didnt get any better-finished at 562 for the night.

I started out ok hitting a double out of the box followed by a missed 10 pin. That 10 pin my downfall. I couldn't double the rest of the game and ended with a 182. My best for the night.

One guy that I crossed with had a 244 the 1st game and was in 3rd place HDCP after the 1st and 2nd games. It gets frustrating sometimes. Well, honestly, it gets frustrating a LOT.

We practice Wednesdays, Peej and I. It's Dollar Night, the only time we can really afford to go roll a lot. At a buck a game we can get 5-7 games apiece in, about as much as either of us can stand at one go. The spirit is willing, and all. Usually we end up doing pretty well and I'll get a 200 or two in, pretty good for me.

Then, come league day, I'm back in the 150s again!

I just went cosmic bowling with the family, and we had a great time. I bowled a 147 and a 133, which was a good bit over my (6 game) average of 124. Unfortunately, for about 35 minutes we had to deal with some extremely obnoxious teenagers next to us. And as a teenager myself, I do enjoy goofing off with friends and just acting a little silly. I have been bowling on a league for about seven years now . In every house I have been in they have cleaned and oiled the lanes and finished 20min. before practice. Now with that said the hose I’m bowling in now oils and clean lanes at 9 or 11 am we start practice at 6:45 pm and I live in Phoenix , Az. HOT in the summer. Tonight is my weekly 9 pin no tap "trny". Its more of a bowling for bux, which is actaully the name. There are different color pins and are worth different amounts. Splits are your big $$. If you add a color pin into it then double it, 2 pins, triple.. Tonight I shot well. Came out the gate strong with a 268. I suppose I should explain that. My other big passion--and I have had a lot of them--is Model Rocketry. Last night was the meeting and 1st night of bowling for my 4 person mixed scratch league. Well the meeting seemed like it took forever with a rules change or alter on almost every one. we are running a 23 point system. 3 points per team game win, 2 points for team total, andd 1 point per game per singles win (you bowl the person accross you). First night of league in new (to me) house. Again, bowling orphan, placed with a team. Bunch of good guys-had a great time. I was told it was a rough league, if a 300 or 800 isnt shot on any night, its a rough night, 25% average 220+.

Our league meeting was on Monday and not much got resolved. The meeting started 45 minutes late, 1/3 of the teams were not present and then half the members left because their league was starting. We had a motion on the floor to stay with the match points, increase the total points that can be won to 30 (my suggestion) and go to 3 12 week sessions vs. 2 halves and it didn't pass.

I am a high school student who has just found a love for the sport of bowling (and yes I consider it a sport!). For my upcoming birthday, I've asked for a Storm Tropical Storm bowling ball. I can't wait to get it drilled and start bowling with it!

Tonight was our last night of league and we came into tonight in 4th place. We couldnt catch the 3rd place team, but could fall as far as 9th if we didnt hold our own. Aug 25-Season starts at Beaver-Vu Lanes in Beavercreek, OH. Its a trio Classic league with some hefty shooters. I was an orphan, since I was coming from another house, and didnt really know anyone. I was placed with a couple guys, and on paper our average is around 600.

Last night was the final nightof my summer PBA league. I went into the roll off seeded 18th of 44. we do ours bracket style when highest seed bowls lowest with top 10 getting a 1st rd bye..
