Cosmic Bowling

I just went cosmic bowling with the family, and we had a great time. I bowled a 147 and a 133, which was a good bit over my (6 game) average of 124. Unfortunately, for about 35 minutes we had to deal with some extremely obnoxious teenagers next to us. And as a teenager myself, I do enjoy goofing off with friends and just acting a little silly. But not to the point of aggravating and annoying other people on a consistent basis. They had a complete disregard for general bowling etiquette, as well as for common courtesy. Numerous times I would wait for the people to bowl to my right, step up and start my approach, only to have someone run by my left and bowl at the exact same time as me. Also, one time I walked up to get my ball (that I brought over and had bethe entire night). One of them promptly decided they felt like bowling with that ball, picked it up, and threw it down the lane. I was still sitting there thinking, "Is he serious? And the sad part is he doesn't even realize or care that he did anything wrong..." The most interesting approach I saw was spinning in circles for 15 seconds and throwing it into the gutter 10 feet down the lane. Not distracting at all is it? I am pretty amazed I threw two scores well above my average.

And I will say, I don't expect perfect etiquette from every random new bowler out there. Earlier, a family with two young girls were bowling next to us. The girls would run up whenever they could, but it was fine. They just didn't know any better. And their parents would tell them to wait, which is the most I can ask for. And I had no problem with them. But the teenagers to our left just had a blatant disregard for ANYBODY else in the alley, and they were plenty old enough to know that most of the stuff they were doing wasn't right. Or they should be old enough......

After we had returned the house balls and gone to the counter to pay, they also left. On their way out I noticed there were still 5 or 6 balls left on the return, all of which weren't ours. As one of the kids passed me, I asked if they were going to return their balls. He didn't say anything but went and brought them to the racks. On his way out he said, "Well we only had one but I cleaned them all up anyways".

This was the part that annoyed me the most. What was your plan then? Use all of the ones we brought? All use the same one? What about the remaining four? And they obviously hadn't done that... seriously, I find it amazing someone can say that with any conviction at all.

Well, I bowled well, which I was happy with. And I learned to never expect anything from people at cosmic bowl. I guess some courtesy and common sense is just too much to ask for....
