Well here we are the last week of the doubles and we are lying in 6th place after our last game where we lost 6 – 2, we are 1 point off 5th and 5 points off 4th so all we can do is go for all 8 points and hope that the other teams drop points. There was no game last Monday due to a bank holiday so we have had to wait two weeks for this game and I have not been able to get near a bowling lane. So here we go.

Game 1 and not a good start missed a couple of 9 pins and then had a big split, Macca started as he finished a couple of weeks ago, badly, but we keep trying but it does not get better as I have three more splits and I don’t pick up much and end with a 124, Macca continues in the same way missing single pins left and right and ends with a 120 so we end up losing that game by quite a few pins, well 135 to be right.

Game 2 it can only get better, I hope at least the start is better and I start to pick up spares but I have changed my ball and I am now using my twisted fury and I pick up my first strike and then miss a spare but at least it is better and Macca has picked up a little as well so it is beginning to look up at last, I finish this game with 3 strikes for a 183 better, and Macca has a bit of a lapse in the middle to end with a 136 but at least he is on the up, but we have lost again but only by 20 odd pins this time. Well we have lost out on 4th place I just hope that the 5th place team (Phoenix) is having as bad as time as we are.

But we need to win this game as if we don’t then we could lose out on 6th place. Again it starts well with 4 spares on the bounce but then I end with 2 splits and I miss a spare but I get a strike and a couple of spares in the end run and end with a 155 so well below my average but better than I thought after the first game. Macca starts better this game with a strike a couple of spares but then misses a couple of spares but gets back on line by picking up a couple of strikes and finished well with a 157. We did it we got 2 points by 2 pins and it is enough as Phoenix lose 8 – 0 so we jump above them and I just found out we could have gone to 4th if we had taken 6 points as team scruff who were in 4th lost 8 – 0 as well. I am happy with 5th it give us a something to aim for in the coming season which starts in 2 or 3 weeks, but we both need to practice and practice hard.
