I wasn't able to bowl on Monday as planned because of a snow storm. I ended up going in on Tuesday to Val Lanes for their all you can bowl for $9.99. I was hoping to get in 3-4 games before my arm tired. The lanes were pretty dry because this was at 9:30 pm, right after league play.
The first game I had some trouble getting used to how dry the lanes were and threw a very sad 86, I'm not counting that one, I was just warming up. I also was worried that my arm was hurting a little early into the 1st game and I was thinking I wouldn't be able to throw more than a couple of games...
I finally warmed up into the 2nd game and got "in the zone" and was able to bowl a total of 6 games. I ended up not counting the first one because I was just warming up. Here's the scores for the next 5:
1st: 158
2nd: 117
3rd: 183
4th: 127
5th: 164
For a average of 149.8, not too far from my old average of 165 or so. Overall I showed some nice improvements:
-Stamina to go 6 games
-41.7% of spares up from a running average of 25%
-48.1% of multi pin spares up from 26%
-149.8 average up from 139.80
I spent a lot of time trying to find the right place to start the stance from, moving between the middle point and the 3rd point a few times through the night. Also concentrated on creating a smooth thumb release and I think I have that mostly down.
My spare pickups are better, but I am still absolutely unable to pick up the 6 and 10 pins when those are left, need to get a LOT more practice with the spare ball for those.
I'm hoping to go in again tonight to Val Lanes for their $1.50 per game special. It'll depend on how my thumb is doing, yesterday I thought about bowling a couple of games but my thumb could barely make it into the ball and had no chance of making a clean exit...
