Bowled today on a pattern that I can only say reminds me of a US Open type shot. Dumped my first 4 balls in the channel trying to play 10 out to 3. Tried throwing the ball straight up 8 board only to have the shot go Brooklyn each time. Decided to move in to a 12 out to 6 line. This did work, but was very touchy in terms of speed and breakpoint. Using a ball with surface playing outside was completely out of the question. If you didn't split the same board every shot, it was either Brooklyn or in the channel. I have bowled on all the regular PBA patterns and this by far was the worst. It almost borders on an illegal pattern with such a high volume of oil outside of 5 and a much lighter volume between 5 and 10. I guess I'll call this pattern the Elephant. If you can't get the ball to sit, you'll get squashed. Ended up with a 1007 for a 6 game blockMy equipment probably has alot to do with my issues today as well. There were a couple of guys on the lane next to me throwing Virtual Energies with a bit more success. Of course, these kids had alot more speed and revs which gave them a little more room. Well, maybe I'll go back to a normal house shot next time to regain some confidence.
