I may have found a good shot to use the Virtual Energy on after all. Tonight we were on 35-36 and this pair is pretty even, with the right lane hooking about a board more than the left. The original thought was to stick with the Mutant Cell on both lanes after what I saw last week. This seemed to look like the answer during practice and the ball reaction was generally good. After about the 5th in the first game, I started to come in high on both lanes. Managed to not leave any splits, but 4 pins were common. Moved left on the approach 2 boards with the same 3 board target. I had to make sure I hit the ball otherwise it wasn't coming back. Got lucky on one shot sending it out to the breakpoint early without lift and it recovered. It appeared at about the 3rd frame of the 2nd game that the heads were drying up. This is where the Virtual Energy comes in and saves the day. Kept my same place on the approach with a 5 board target. This ball skidded effortlessly through the heads and made a good move on the backend. Left a couple of ringing 10s after the change, but not like I'd seen in past weeks and making them helps too. Scoring was pretty pedestrian, however, with a 642. I guess this wasn't too bad considering the scores for the league this week were really low. Our league usually has a handicap doubles game the second game and 458 won it. The guy who runs it pays out to 3rd place which was 438. I seen some weeks where 510 doesn't place. All in all, I was satisfied with the results and I'm getting more confident with the new equipment. Next week, I'm on 33-34, so I don't expect much difference in the shot.
