Looks like the growing pains are finally over. Started the night with my Mutant Cell pearl playing the usual line. Both lanes were playing nearly identical which made things a bit easier. By the time the end of the first game rolled around, the heads were starting to dry up already. Must have been some open play on this pair after the house oiled. Changed to the Virtual Energy the second game and didn't trust the ball the first 2 frames. Went high on both shots and was lucky not to leave a split. Made a slight move left on the approach with the same target in the 3rd frame and ran the next 9. Left a ringing 10 on the fill ball for a 277. This was the doubles game, so I was hopeful of possibly cashing in. My partner shot 230, so 507 scratch was looking good. The scoring pace for the league this week was very high, so I wasn't sure if this was going to be enough, but did manage to hold on by 3 pins. The last game I decided to move my target left 2 boards to ride the oil longer. Carry started to become an issue as I left a couple of single pin spares along with a solid 9 in the 9th frame. Indecision cost me on the 9 pin as I should have used my Rhino and shot straight at the spare. Instead, I tried the Virtual Energy and swung it out too wide and into the channel. This bonehead move cost me a "7" and I ended the night with a 691. Can't really complain too much as I only had 2 opens for the night, one of which was a big split. Main lesson learned here is that I have to make sure I get the ball out. There is no forgiveness inside as there was with the NV or NVS. So after 7 weeks, the average is getting back to where it was last year now standing at 210. Next week is 29-30 which has been one of the more challenging pair and this will be the first time crossing this pair with the new equipment. We'll see how it goes.
