Week 10

A little late with this week's entry, but here goes. Had 35-36 this week, which is a very even pair, so started with the usual 12 out to 5 line. To my surprise, the oil was much heavier this week, especially down on this side of the house which always seems to be drier. I also expected some issues due to open bowling on the pair for a good hour before the league start and no re-oiling. Despite all this, had my best night of the season so far with a 722. Only had 1 open which was a ripping 7-10 to start game 3. Left a few 10 pins, but nothing like the last few weeks. The third game was the only time I needed to make a major change, and that wasn't until the 5th frame after leaving a flat 10 with the Virtual Energy. A buddy of mine was throwing the same ball on the pair next to me and his reaction was really bad. The ball was rolling out and it seemed his carry down was pretty severe. Looked like the same might be happening on my pair, so I changed to the Mutant Cell which picks up the roll earlier but doesn't finish quite as strong. Strung the last 8 to end with 248. Lessoned learned here is that it is a good idea to watch what's going on around you, not just what is going on with your pair. I probably wouldn't have made the ball change as quickly under normal circumstances, especially after only throwing 1 shot with a bad reaction. Even though I had a good night, my team only took 2 of 7. I knew I had my work cut out when I saw a member of the other team prebowled a 699. Next week is 33-34, which can be tricky depending on how heavy the oil is. We'll see------------
