Well, after a promising start to the second half, things have really gone south. Had 33-34 last night which has always proven to be a tricky pair. Noticed lane 33 had some of the lamination about 2-3 feet on the lane that was peeling off. Great-- another obstacle in addition to the oil pattern to worry about. This did come into play as when my ball rolled over this area, the shot was high everytime. If I was on either side of this spot, the ball was in the pocket. Not that this made a huge difference, as the carry was terrible, had the 7-10 not once, but twice within a 4 frame span, and scoring pace was miserable despite the fact that I felt pretty good about the way I was executing. Once again, the only bright spot was spare shooting, only missing 1 single pin spare for the night. The end result was the team getting swept and despite a 17-4 start, we now stand at 20-22. I am beginning to wonder if all these 7-10s are just because of the new equipment. I never left anywhere near this many with the Ebonite bowling balls. I may go ahead and try using the NV or NVS next week during practice to see if I can get a good line and avoid this bad carry. This has been the first season in at least 15 years not using Ebonite and I have to say I don't see a great deal of improvement, if any. It definitely is not better from a carry standpoint. Next week is 27-28 which historically has been a good pair. I guess I'll bring every ball I have just to keep my options open.
