Decided to bring the NV and Big One out of retirement last night to see if I could improve carry. At this point, anything would be an improvement. Started with the NV during practice playing an 11 out to 6 line and this looked good. Just had to make sure I hit the ball otherwise it wasn't going to recover. Had 39-40 which always has shown 39 to be about 5 boards tighter than 40. This difference was not as great this time, around 2 boards. Started the first game going Dutch the first 4 frames and in the 5th, came in a bit high leaving the 4-7. Went to shoot the spare only to have one of the finger grips come out and stay on my ring finger. As a result, I didn't have a decent release and I chopped the 7 off. I could not glue the grip back in as the pro shop was closed and no one else had any super glue- one more item I need to put in my bag. Indecision now came into play as I still had the Mutant Cell in my bag. Threw the 6th frame with this ball and overcompensated for the reaction throwing it out to 2 board and coming in light leaving the 2 pin on 40. After this reaction, decided the Mutant Cell was not the way to go and went to the Big One. Tried the 11 out to 6 line I was playing with the NV and the ball just didn't hit hard enough leaving a couple of flat 10s. Decided to play a straight up 6 line and this was the solution punching out in the 10th for a 184. The carry was nearly flawless from here on out, leaving only 1 ringing 10 and a solid 9 the rest of the night. Shot 246 and 234 the next 2 games for a 664 series. Needless to say, this was a very encouraging turn of events and the Big One will be the go to ball and I will start with the same straight up 6 line. It's back to crappy 25-26 next week, so maybe this ball is the answer for this pair.
