As the season winds down, late season injuries are starting to become an issue. Popped my knee late in the third game and may keep me sidelined for next week. Not that it really makes all that much difference as the team is well entrenched in last place. Couple that with tearing my ring finger and it makes things real difficult. A guy on the opposing team popped his wrist in the 2nd game. With all this, still managed to have a half way decent night. 27-28 was on the slate for this week, and this pair normally has an above average scoring pace. Tried the usual straight up 6 shot during practice and it looked like the oil was heavier than in past weeks. Started with the Big One and the entry angle was good but a bit weak. 10 pins were fairly common early on and I managed to cover them up until the 10th of the first game when I whiffed my first one which was the only open of the game for a 204. The second game showed the heads drying a bit, but not enough to make a move yet. Stayed clean once again until the 10th where I ripped my finger on the release pulling the shot resulting in a 4-10. Another open frame for a 204. Looking at the triplicate, I decided to change to the NVS which has more snap on the backend than the Big One. Moved a board left on the approach to create a slight belly with the same target. Ran 4 in a row and once again was clean until the 10th. Left another 10 pin only to dump it in the channel about a foot away from the pin. I can't remember the last time I opened in every 10th frame on the night. Needless to say, it really killed my scores as just converting a spare would have meant an extra 33 pins on series. Ended with a 225 and a 633 series, so the triplicate was not in the cards. Actually this was a night that I wish I would have kept the Mutant Cell in my bag as this would have snapped a bit harder. Just goes to show that the heavier oil does not suit the Ebonite equipment with my game. Hopefully nothing is torn in the knee as this would end the season early. Having an MRI tomorrow to see. If nothing is torn, I'll just use a brace from years past along with some Vicodin. 37-38 is next and this is the highest scoring pair.
