Summer practice 1st week

Haven't been able to get out and practice until now- almost 2 months after league ended. This was evident in the first couple of games as it took quite a while to get loose. The Cheetah pattern was on the slate for this week and this pattern requires play near the channel. Thought I might try a bit deeper line starting at about 10 out to 5 at the breakpoint. The Virtual Energy looked like a good bet for this shot as it skids better through the heads. Also, this is the shortest sport shot pattern, so getting longer skid is a must. Once I got the reaction down, scoring was very high. Carry was also quite good as the steep entry angles seen with a league pattern weren't as severe. Ended up shooting 268, 257, and 246 the final 3 games for a 771 series. Spares were a fairly uncommon occurance as nearly every shot that was in the pocket carried. Needless to say, this was a very encouraging start for the off season. I was not real sure if I was going to be able to use the VE/MC for my game, but this seems to put my fears to rest. At least this equipment will work well on the heavier oil patterns. The real test comes next time as the Shark pattern awaits. This by far is the heaviest and longest pattern of any of the PBA patterns.
