Didn't bowl on the 5th due to working late and a senior tournament shutting the house on the 12th. Was on the end pair 39-40 last night and with the new lanes, thinking maybe the huge difference seen before wouldn't be there. Started with the Mutant Cell on a 9 out to 5 line during practice. Felt pretty good with my early shot execution, so seeing the ball going high suggested either a move left or a switch to a less aggressive ball. A guy on the other team was using a Total NV and struck on every practice shot he threw. Just so happened I had my Total NV with me, so managed to squeeze in a few shots before league play started. This ball was the answer as the backend reaction was smoother, but I still had to keep the ball speed on the high side. Only made 1 real errant shot in the 1st game leaving a 4-6-7 and ended up with a 223. Started game #2 with a spare/strike and things really went downhill from there after that. Every shot started to come in high and I made several moves left, changed balls, changed speed, and nothing seemed to work. Probably was overthinking a bit and changed too many things at once. Finally got back on line in the 9th frame only to leave a ringing 10. With the way the game was going, my confidence was not there and I whiffed it. Staring at a possible lowest game in many years, decided to stick with the Total NV the rest of the way out with a 5 board move left on the approach and 5 boards at the target. Filled 20 in the 10th to end up with a 146 avoiding the low game of 142 (barely). The last game started to show a bit of transition with oil pushing to the backends. This actually worked in my favor as the overreaction was now gone and carry improved. Ended shooting a 236 and managed to 605 series. Even with the horrific 2nd game, I still managed to have high set on the pair. That was saying something since 3 of the 4 bowlers on the other team were above 190 averages. Next week its back to the left side with 27-28. Hope there is more oil next week as this week was the driest the lanes have been all season.
