Been a while since my last entry. Long hours on the job have cut into my free time lately. Last week it was back to 25-26 again!? which last time was a real challenge with 26 being flooded with oil. Got to start practice on 26 this time and started with a little bit deeper inside line than in weeks past with a 14 out to about 7 line. Had the Mutant Cell Pearl, Total NV, and NVS in the bag this week. I usually make an effort to throw all 3 balls during practice to see early on which will give the best reaction on the fresh pattern. The NVS and NV did not have enough length, so it looked like the Mutant Cell was the go to ball for the night. Stayed with the initial line starting with the front 6 in game 1 and carry was exceptional, something this pair was not known for providing. Of course, as I am thinking the carry is good, a ringing 10 appears. This was on 25 which was playing about 2-3 boards drier than 26. Going to shoot this 10 pin, I kept thinking to make sure and get it out, even with the spare ball, otherwise it will miss left. Still using the old Rhino Pearl for 10 pins, and I have been getting out of the thumb much better lately. Missing my target inside 1 board meant a near miss on the left. When I miss 10 pins, I usually will dump the shot in the channel, so this was a bit unusual. Stayed clean the rest of the way for a 234. Game 2 showed a slight transistion beginning. Made a 2 board adjustment on the approach with the same target at the arrows and this worked fairly well. Left another ringing 10 in the 7th only to do the exact same thing I did in the first game and miss it left. Decided the next one I left I would move a board or 2 left to get a better angle. Got to the 10th frame sitting at 174 in the 8th with a spare in the 9th. Looking at a possible 224 going off the sheet. Finishing on 26 gave a little more inside room if I were to miss there. I hit the mark, but the ball speed was too slow and resulted in a 3-6-7-10. Now shooting deuce was in jeopardy. Went for the conversion and the 3 pin just missed the 7 on the high side ending in a 199. Made one final move to start game 3 by moving my target in about 2 boards. This created a line that was more direct and helped keep the ball speed up. Had a couple of hambones and stayed clean for a 236. All in all, I was pretty satisfied with the way the night went. The shot on this pair was probably the best it had been in my time on this league. A couple of breaks and conversion of those 10 pins would most likely have meant a 7. Back to the right side of the house next week with 37-38. Thinking I will replace the NVS in the lineup with the Virtual Energy since this ball has better skid through the heads and may be beneficial later in the night.
