Lane Lovers Jubilee update (THREE-WAY TIE!!!)

What a great night of bowling for my team, Showtime. We were able to pull out three game win and also took the series total. It was a great night and we all were pretty much on point. I started out kind of rough but was able to get it together part way through the second game to finish with a strong first game. The first place team, Hot Mess, pulled out a complete sweep of Summer Cooler. The second place team, Pin and Tonics, bowled my team and we swept them. This caused them to drop out of second and allowed "Team 5" to move up into the second place spot with sweeping Get Really Lucky. The team that was one game ahead of us going into this week only took three and allowed us to tie them. So we are in a three way tie for fourth place going into week 6. It's going to be a big one. Pin and Tonics is bowling Team 5(second place right now), 20 Pin Sin is bowling Get Really Lucky(ninth place team), and my team, Showtime, is bowling Roll Another 1(seventh place right now). Looking at averages and handicaps, my team really needs to be on top of our game to pull out another upset. It looks like 20 Pin Sin could win all four again and Pin and Tonics could end up losing all four and give my team the chance to move up to at least 5th place. That is IF 20 Pin Sin takes all four. Enough about the teams and standings. It's time to move on to how I did. To view more on the league standings and such visit http://www.leaguesecretary.com/Leagu...Num=5&Season=U

Since picking up a Columbia 300 Freeze Hybrid(http://columbia300.com/), I have vastly improved my scores and improved my average by more than 15 pins. The lanes where pretty dry this week for some reason and could be due to the hot weather we have been experiencing. The bowling center was a little bit warmer than usual and I think due to the complaining about the lane conditions of the previous week, they might have put less oil down on the lanes. With that said lets move on to what I did.

The first game was split city in that game. Five splits, six open frames, three strikes, and one spare. Even with all of the splits, I still managed a 133. I was moving around a lot due to my ball not curving as much. I started the night with my left foot on the center dot aiming for the second arrow, like I have been doing with this ball. From there I threw two splits with no spares. I noticed the ball not curving as much and moved one dot to the right and continued to aim for the second arrow. This caused one split and two strikes. I thought I had the lane figured out and the correct adjustment. I was happy with the 9/ in the 7th frame but then I was plagued by splits again. I got a strike in the 9th but I made the mistake of forgetting what adjustment I made to get it which caused the split in the 10th. We still won the game due to my team mates bowling a 216 and a 207. So then we go to the second game of 138.

So at the start of the second game I realized the adjustment I made was a bit much and I wasn't hitting the pocket. I moved in from the 3rd dot two boards and kept aiming at the second arrow. I ended up with two open frames before I got a spare. This is when a team mate said to slow down and not to hurry so much. by doing this I throw a strike and two more spares before throwing a split which was a good throw but just a bit too high on the head pin and I didn't get the pin action to prevent the split. I still had 5 open frames, two splits, and two strikes. This was still not a bad game and due to the other team not doing so well, we were able to win this one too. So I started to realize I was over analizing what I was doing. Onto the third game of 189.

This game was much better. Everything was falling into place. I had also moved over two boards from the third dot but still aimed at the second arrow. It seems that at this point in the night the lanes were very dry. I had 5 strikes, 4 spares and two open. I say two open because of the 3rd frame and the 10th frame. Although I did get a strike in the 10th, I then got 7 and 1 after the strike. You might wonder what happened in the 3rd frame too. while I was starting farther left then usual, I usually throw it out to the second arrow and it curves back. Since the lane conditions would not allow my ball to come back like I am use to, and I was farther right than I usually am. This first ball gutter ball was caused by me turning my shoulders to the left gutter while at the same time having my arm swing the ball out a little bit more to the left. After that I started to pick up spares and got a few more strikes. Overall, I was pretty happy with this game. Especially since we won all three games and the series for a clean sweep of the night.
