Attacking a Flat Oil Pattern

Rate this Entry
Greetings! Has anyone else noticed that many tournaments and scratch leagues are putting out flat to reverse oil patterns out. These patterns are tough! An arrant shot to the right (speaking from a righties perspective) sends you skidding to a certain 2-10 split and a tugged shot puts you through the beak. Today's low rg/high diff equipment can only serve you well if you are brave enough to venture off your Zone 2 break point (7 board at approx. 40-45 feet). I am a tweener, bordering on power player, and I am just now getting used to shooting at the Zone 3 breakpoint (12 board at approx. 40-45 ft.) and finding results! To hit this awkward break point you have to play left of 20. On house shots it is tough to get a chance to practice this. Luckily for me I am fortunate to have Bowling Centers that will lay the shot down if I ask them on an off peak time. Well happy striking and I hope you found this helpful.
