The meeting is 3 weeks before the league starts but I'm getting excited about the upcoming season nonetheless.

First a little background on the league. Last season we had 18 teams in this match point trios league. We work off a 27 pt. system and the season was split into 18 week halves. The handicap is 90% of 240 and it's $35 a week. Breakdown is $13.50 lineage, $.40 secy, $.40 treas and $20.70 prize fund. Subs are allowed but have to be on the roster by the 5th week of each half and there are 5 position rounds each half.

Now for the proposed changes. The $35 a week is staying but they want to implement a weekly high hdcp series payout to the top 5 people. This will get paid out on a weekly basis. This new payout has attracted some new teams who like the idea that they can win money without waiting the entire season to collect. We lost 2 teams that I know of but have gained another 8 or 9 so now we should be at 24-25 teams. The league also wants to go from halves to three 12 week thirds.

Another proposed change is the point system. They want to implement the Peterson Point Syetem (PPS) but have meet opposition from the existing members. So now they want to do the PPS on a trial for the 1st 3rd season, do match point for the 2d 3rd and have a vote for the last 3rd. I say stick to halves and do the PPS the 1st half because everyone already knows if they like match points are not.

I personally want to see changes on the subs. In the past the subs can bowl anytime as long as they where on the roster. I like to see the subs get 9 games under their belts before they can bowl in one of the last 2 position rounds. The other change is a rolling entering average based on your 1st 21 games. In the past we used last years average for the first 9 games and then you used your new average after that. I say use a rolling average (the formula is a little confusing) so if anyone has a really big week very early in the season, they don't have a extrodinally (sp?) high average over their capabilities.

Last thing is not really a change but just a nice addition. One league member is Ebonite's regional manager for my area. He's got Ebonite to donate 12 high end balls to our league that we can do whatever we want with. We're thinking of raffling off 9 to the entire house and giving 3 to league members through an inter-league raffle (one per third). The raffle money can go to the weekly prizes or to the end of year prizes. We are also getting shirts for the entire league donated to us from Ebonite and the house.

This is going to be a long meeting with all of the proposed changes. There are a lot of changes going on and most for the better. This is a very good competitive league but we're trying to make it one of the elite leagues in this area. I follow up tomorrow with the results.
