    Default What about Knick names?

Any body have any ideals of what to use for knick names for the pins? I know we have the Headpin which is #1
and I know we have KingPin #5 but what about the rest of the pins?
what are knicknames for strings of strikes? are there any for spares?
what are some used for splits?

The names most often used for the 7 and 10 pins are not suitable for a family friendly site such as this.

    XX - Double
    XXX - Triple or Turkey
XXXX - Four bagger or Hambone

Three splits or opens in a row is a Buzzard.

Leaving a cluster of pins near the head pin and one of the corner pins, like the 1-2-8-10, is a washout.

Splits where there is only one pin missing between the ones standing are baby splits, most common are the 3-10 and 2-7.

The 4-6-7-10 used to be called Double pinochle. The Big Four seems to be used more often of late.

The 4-6-7-9-10 and its mirror image, the 4-6-7-8-10 are both called the Greek Church.

we call the 5 pin the faggot pin, if you miss you have to flash your stomach for some reason lol. everybody calls it out and watches to see if you get it. you occasionally get a "fag off" where you get 2 on lanes next to each other.

I just heard the four bagger called a hambone the other night at league.

Back in high school, we called the five pin the idiot pin. Not sure why.
