Question how to get the ball out????

One problem i generally have when i dont bowl for a while is i generally seem not to be able to get the ball out to the right side of the lane. I literally would be able to hit about 20 and thats it. What are the reasons for it? Does anyone else have this problem? I generally hear alot from people " you have to get it out more"....thats when in my head im like DUH but i physically cant seem to get it out lol .....Help please! when i get back to bowling hopefully soon i will be bowling a big event in the UBA (underground bowling association).

When you hold the ball in your stance, is it in front of your body?

If so when you swing the ball to the back, it will tend to go away from your body(to the right if your right handed) and when it comes forward it will pull to the left of your mark.

Try holding the ball inline with your shoulder, this will help keep your swing on line. You can also try holding the ball a little right of your shoulder if needed.

bowl1820 is right about position, and I would add that your timing is very important as well. If you are rushing the foul line, it will cause you to pull the ball and miss your target to the inside.

If you also play the right side of the lane I have another scenario for you. After playing down and in one and having to move deep (or just wanting to) I have a tendency to not line my hips up to the target but instead have them more square to the foul line. Combine that with the two issues posted above and wham, the ball won't cross the 20 board.

Ok thanks i'm actually looking to hit the lanes this week and will make sure i remember what you guys said. I haven't bowled since the end up my winter league. I sprained a muscle at the driving range so iv'e been relaxing it for the event i'm bowling in and a tournament that's going on in Queens NY.
