Default I was told high end balls won't work for me

This is something that the pro shop guy has told me a few times. He said because I have a very high rev rate, that I need to use mid range and low end balls. Top of the line balls won't work for me most of the time. Does this should right to you guys? I'm still learning about balls, and what each one does, and reaction, so he could be telling me that because I own high end balls, and he wants to sell me on a new ball. I don't think that's the case, I trust the guy, but again, it's not something I would know unless told, and explained to me.

About 16.5, 17. I am also thinking about dropping weight to a 14, not sure if I drop weight would a higher end basil work better then. Don't get me wrong, I love using middle of the road balls, they are cheaper. I just want to know if theres any merit ti what he said, and any time I could use a high end ball.

Again, an unclear post by me. Ball speed is 16.5, 17. I am currently using 15# balls, but thinking of going to 14#.

If you drop down to 14#, your speed might jump to 19-20mph. If you are comfortable using 15# equipment, I don't suggest changing.

When I bowled no thumb, I used a Track Equation and could barely keep it on the lane with the amount of revs I was able to create. A lot of it has to deal with the amount of oil on the lanes. For a typical house shot, a high-end ball will usually be too strong for a no thumb bowler, but for a sport league shot or tournament shot, a high end ball will work great.

It's not a unreasonable recommendation to make, Usually High Performance/Top of the line balls are the strongest ball's (they hook the most). If you couple that with a high rev powerful release, it can be too much for most conditions. So sticking to mid range and low end balls could serve a bowler better in the long run.

Now some might say well you could get the High Performance ball and drill it weak. Yes you could, but why buy a high priced, High Performance ball and drill all the guts out it. When you could pay less, get a mid-range and drill it with your standard or a stronger layout and do the same thing.

The most expensive/High Performance ball isn't always the answer.

Ok, that's pretty much exactly what he told me. I may need something a little stronger eventually, when I try sport patterns, but for now I'm pretty much only bowling house patterns.

Well me I prefer Fresh Basil, it's a lot better than the dry stuff.

The pro shop i used to go to the owner used to tell me the same thing but i did go outside of his judgment and i honestly have to say i was glad i did. I Shot my first 300 with a roto grip rsx which was low end, my second was with the nvd and my third with a brunswick c-system alpha-max. Dont get me wrong i definitely would listen to a guy who does drilling for a living but one who also listens to what their costumers want and have more of an opinion then a " no you dont need that get this" approach.
