    Default Spare ball

Hey guys.... new to the forum and gonna make it short n simple. I've recently starting bowling again with a few buddies of mine. I've bowled back in the late 90's and stopped in the early 2000's. I am currently using my old 14-15lb ball Ebonite Matrix Trimax. I never had a spare ball before, i've always used my friends.... now it comes down that i want to have a ball to pick up spare of my own... any good suggestions? thx in advance.

Pretty much any polyester ball will do the trick as they are all pretty much the same. Find one you think looks good and go with that

There's a bunch of cheap plastic balls out there that will work great. Just pick a cool color and go with it. The other options are the slightly more expensive balls, with differnt designs. The Zombie is a good example. Rotogrip makes a cool looking ball called the Crown. Of course, you can always go with a ball with your favorite sports teams logo on it, those look great and work just like any other spare ball. Or pick a team you hate, this way when you pick it up, you get mad and want to throw it harder.

Urethane for spares? Are you serious or is this a joke? Urethane hooks much easier than plastic.

I know several people in my league and in the sport leaque I was in who use a polished urethane ball for spares and the balls go very straight with very little to no hook at all. You are right, plastic is a much better choice!

It never crossed my mind to polish a urethane. I suppose if you have an old urethane ball around then a bottle of polish is cheaper than a plastic ball. My urethane Scout and Natural Pearl both hook a lot more than my plastic. I usually go to urethane for short sport patterns and during a normal 5 person league night I was using urethane for the second game and hooking plastic for game three.
