    Default Thumb Straight

I have a habit of bending my thumb in the hole and getting hung up in the ball. I saw a device in an online store that you insert into the thumb hole that is suppose to help keep your thumb straight. Is there anyone on here using this?

This is something I recently had to learn as well. I could not get my thumb out clean to save my life. I kept having the thumb hole made bigger, and it still kept happening. I took my ball out when I was just sitting around the house, and gripped it like I always do, an I finaly saw it. Bending my thumb inside the hole caused it to hang up. So then I had to figure out why I was bending my thumb. My hand was no in the correct position, and I was basicly inserting my thumb in bent. I relaxed my hand, moved it back a little, and relaxed my thumb, and made sure I inserted it straight, so it would come out straight. Fixed it, now my thumb does not hang up.

I used a "thumb straight" years ago. When I went to a oval thumb hole, it wouldn't fit properly (it needed a round hole). It was okay but I thought it got a little slick.

The device you're referring to only works properly in a round hole I've taken to putting modeling clay in the correct shape in my oval interchangeables. Keeping them in place over an extended period has been an issue (crazy glue works 2 weeks). Angelo has suggested to me to try JB Weld which I have at work so I will try that tomorrow (after I read the package to see if it's ok on platics)

AngeloPD; I had the thumb slug drilled round, but slightly smaller than needed. I did this so I could shape my own oval. I bowl in the North County area.

Rocco; That could be part of my problem.

Bowl1820; I was thinking of making my own anyway.

Striker; My driller told me the same thing, but easier said than done.

Bill; The modeling clay is a good idea, but I was leaning towards molding mine out of silicone rubber.

    Thanks to all you guys.
