Is there such thing as a bowling season?

For example when clubs begin to register, teams are announced, tournaments etc?
    Or is it year round?

Bowling is a year round sport, But yes there are seasons.

The Winter season runs from about August to April (about 34 weeks)
The summer season runs from about April to August (about 16 weeks)

Tournaments can be anytime, more during the winter season
