Default Should I resurface my DV8 Misfit?

I usually play at local alleys with it around 9-12 at night so I'm assuming not that much oil left on the lanes but usually some oil. But it just seems very uncontrollable, unpredictable and always going brooklyn.. quite different than my Brunswick Damage. Would a surface change help? How much do they usually cost?

My thinking is that a re-surface would be unnecessary. It sound slike your ball may be over-reacting, which may be because your ball is too aggressive for the condition. A simple coat of bowling ball polish might help, or try to find lanes with more oil...

I take it your in a league? If so,I would take the ball to 2000-4000 with polish if the lanes are that dry. The ball comes with 500 with factory polish.

    Good luck & good scoring!

The problem with bowling that late is the lack of oil consistency on the lanes. Depending on the bowlers previously on the lane, the oil can be gone or pushed down, giving you the inconsistent shot. So, I would not adjust your bowling ball. Use that time to practice a different shot, having a consistent approach and release, or spare game.

My Misfit has a similar reaction if I'm bowling after a few "house ball" bowlers. It either goes brooklyn or doesnt even hook enough to hit the pocket. When I bowl on fresh oil it's pretty sweet. Looking at bowlingball.com it shows your brunswick damage as being better for drier lanes than the misfit.

Also, didn't you win a Storm? How is that one working out?

That's probably why I thought it was 4000 grit for some reason but if it's 500 yeah I should probably get it resurfaced.

Not league I just go during unlimited bowling/$10.

panbanger I have not drilled the Vivid yet I never encounter heavy oil.

Not knowing just how the lanes are when your bowling ( very dry or a spotty over/under reacting condition) changing the surface may help.

If it's really dry going to a finer base grit with a polish can help.

If it's spotty over/under reacting going to a lower grit can help, because it would even out the reaction.

The DV8 Misfit has a OOB of 500 Siaair Micro Pad; Ruff Buff; High Gloss

So it is polished but with a coarse base grit.

If it's dry go to a higher base grit like 2000 or 4000 followed by Ruff Buff, then High Gloss.

If it's spotty try going to a higher base grit like the 2000 or 4000. But followed only by a light coat of polish or possibly none at all.

    Also about terminology
Resurfacing is when you sand a ball down to remove all the nicks and scratches and make it look like new again.

Surface changes are where your just changing the texture of the ball trying to match it to the conditions.

I bowl everynight from 9-12 and the lanes become very dry and I don't know if you need something so strong

I went tonight and I bowled really well. Being a monday it was pretty dead so I'm guessing the oil wasn't splattered all over the place and inconsistent. I definitely had a better night and the ball was weaker than I thought it was. Just gotta test more.

Yeah I called the driller tonight and he was confused when I said resurface so now I know. Surface change is only $5, no wonder people get them all the time!. This makes me happy I can buy any ball I want without worry of regretting it later.
