    Default Help with shoes....

Well thanks to bowlingboards.com I officially have my own ball. Next question is do shoes really matter? I hate house shoes, when I was younger and bowled I used a slide pad all the time. Was wondering what shoes a good all around and if i should go back to using slide pad? I've seen shoes from 19.99 to over a 100.00 I'm trying to stay rather low on price and understand you get what you pay for. Any suggestions?

I would go with the least expensive shoes that are handed, i.e. the left shoe has a slide sole and the right doesn't for a right hander. See how they work for you and if you need more slide the slide pads are pretty cheap.

Dexters or Linds, which ever feel comfortable! The higher end shoes like Dexters SST 8 for example have removeable soles so if they get wet,you want more/less slide, etc. They cost around $150+/- depending where you live. I would say $40-$70 is about average for good shoes.

People think I'm weird, but I always preferred house shoes over anything else.. Maybe it's because that's all I used for the first few YEARS of my bowling life, but any bowling shoes my parents got me when I was younger never worked for me.. Too much slide, or too little, I always went back to house shoes.

I don't know anything about shoes nowadays, but I'd get something that was very comfortable, inexpensive, and try them out, if they slide good for you, great, if not at least they were cheap. I'm going to look for used house shoes for sale, lol!

You can buy "rental" shoes. Just ask the pro shop to order you a pair. I had a pair I wore for years as regular street shoe for the comedic value. I think they were like $25 a pair. If your pro shop wont order them for you, I know I can definitely get them. If you wanted to pay for them plus shipping I would get you a pair.

These seem to be a decent value, they are cheaper and only have the single slide.

If nothing else having your own shoes, that fit comfortably, would save you a fortune on rentals.

I used to bowl with a guy that bowled with one old house shoe on his slide foot and a sneaker for grip on his other. Weird ? Yup. But he'd kick butt in pot games. Very, very, good bowler. Just a little different.

Check the Dexter shoe factory outlet, I think there's one near orlando. Unless theres one closer to you.
