    Default Dumb Span Quesion

I just got a new motiv primal impulse drilled up and the ball just does not feel right coming off my hand. It looks like and feels like the span was not done right (to short). The question is if the span is to short will it causes less revs on the ball? Thanks everyone

Most of a bowlers revs are from proper technique and good timing. I think that a short span would decrease your leverage a bit, ( part of my brain wants to say that since the ball rotates about an axis passing through the center of the ball and that we are imparting a force to rotate the ball at the edge of the finger holes so we all have the same amount of leverage) ,more likely it is screwing up your technique and or timing. That's why it feels wrong.

Yes, according to Ron Clifton a short span can cause reduced revs as well as making you have to grip the ball which can throw off your consistency. It can also cause injury to the hand due to the strain of gripping the ball.

im not fully sure about losing revs but i seem to keep the same revs i have used one of my brother's bowling balls and his span is much shorter then mine and i can still get that ball reving but with the shorter span it also helps me with llofting the ball abit if it ever is hooking to soon so i can get it down the lane abit more

Ok I have some more backstory, an update and a tip for everyone. First I did not get this ball drilled by my normal ball driller he was on vacation and I went to someone else. When I had it drilled I did not have any other ball to take my info from so he had to re measure my hand. Took the ball back to my normal guy and the span was off by 1/4 inch. The person that drilled it must have either wrote the wrong measurement down just did it wrong. My pro shop guy say the shorter span will cause the ball to not come off the hand right. It was a feeling of not getting any lift on the ball and like it was just falling off my hand. Thumb is being moved and this should fix the issuse. Now for the tip. Once you find someone that knows your game and how you like your ball drilled keep going to that person. A good ball driller is a good thing to find.
