    Default League Frustrations

Alright, so just something that is bothering me and probably bothers higher level bowlers on this forum as well.. league shot is too easy!! I bowled league last night, and it is the first time I have bowled on a house shot in a long time because I bowled on PBA patterns all summer long and averaged a solid 180 by the end of the league. That was actually high average for the league believe it or not it played tough. Then I go back to good old House shot conditions, and here come the 280s, 250s 300 etc. Me? 204 220 194. It's so frustrating watching everybody else in the league tearing it up, and I'm sitting here struggling with the over/under that this house shot creates with the puddle of oil in the middle and the dry desert on the outsides. I simply cannot hit the house patterns like most people can and this is really biting at me since I will be bowling on this all year.. sigh I don't want to sound like I'm just complaining but it's very demoralizing..

if you can hold your own on a sport pattern i'm sure you can figure out most THS. might just take a few weeks to sort of re adjust

ebonitekite what type of ball are you throwing is it for heavy med or dry oils cause ik one guy that throws the frantic med oil and he stands about wher ei do with my heavy oil lane ball and hes got alot more revs and speed then me and he just pushes his ball from the 15board out to the 5 board and it jsut comes right back into the pocket hard.

i do the same thing with hevay oil lane balls but im to the left 5 boards i got alot of revs and decent speed use to be 18mph recently i have it a 16-17mph for more controll and i throw the hell raiser revenge works great i can throw the same as him but if i want to throw the same line as him i will grab my freeze or kinetic pearl and just let it go down the lane and they both sometimes over hook but then i jsut leave my target and move left 2 boards and see what happens if it still over hooks then i will move to my normal heavy oil lane ball line and use that target and see what happens if it under hooks then i move the target left till i get a decent hook into the pocket its probly not the right way to doing it but its seem to work for me 4 or 5 frames i cna handle that rather then messing up the whole game.

you cannot worry about what everyone else is scoring. You keep your head in your own game. You will figure it out. You cannot let these inflated scores get into your head.

Well if its so dry on the outside the nut up and get a tropical breeze or a motiv ascent pearl and lay it out medium or weak for your style. I know to man guys that wont use the weaker balls because they dont hook as much and it isnt as impressive. At my house the THS is only 32 feet with medium volume. I know since its so short and it will transition quick i use nothing but pearls but my buddies refuse to use anything except their Nexxxus or Virtual Gravity or Raptor P7, which im fine with me cause they arent using up my oil on the outside and my line hold longer. And if that still doesnt work cause you put a god like amount of revs on the ball then its time expand your game. Its time practice a weaker more up the back kind of release.

I too prefer sport shots with better players. The last two years I averaged higher on sport patterns than THS. The straight bowlers with their plastic balls, etc screw up a good line. However, edpup316 is correct. I had to learn to to more hand out of the ball to play where I wanted. I also usually use urethane on THS. My house is 42' or 44' depending on which pattern they choose. Luckily they don't program in the two shorter patterns they have available. Another thing to seriously analyze; why are the other bowlers averaging so much higher? I have a teammate whose form sucks, no ball speed, uses a Defiant and has a total of 2 boards of movement. Any time he beats me it rubs me the wrong way.
A line to try that few can stomach; play straight up the outside. Any where from the 1 to the 3 will be all yours.

I started out with the Marauder, my rev rate is probably above average, pushing 350-400 i would guess not 100% sure, I wasn't struggling that much with carry, I only left 3 ten pins on the night, I just struggled to hit the pocket. The last game I balled down even more to an Ebonite Cyclone and it was even worse. Miss right a couple too many boards and it's as extreme as crossing over it's 5 man teams so the oil breaks down fast, and all over the place it seems like

Another factor with this particular center is the pins though, they have probably the worst pins you can buy on the market, so if the ball isn't going through the pocket really well carry can be an issue. I want to try a pin down Hyroad to help get to the pocket more consistently but I'm scared of carry issues so there are a lot of things to consider.. that would probably take urethane out of the question too.. lol

You get a decent amount of revs. Revs allow the ball to go further before transitioning to the hook phase. Cutting down on the revs will allow the ball to read the lane sooner.
