New to bowling need some advice...

I just recently started bowling and pulled the trigger went to a pro-shop and bought a ball, shoes and bag. Got measured and had the balled drilled and all is well, went from a conventional grip game of 145 average to a hook game to an average of 163 immediately! I am very excited to get better and practice more, now here is my question, I was thinking next time I buy a Ball I would like to look around and maybe catch a deal at like bowlingball.com well to do that they need my measurements, right,,, well I called the "pro-shop" that took mine for the first ball and they will not give me my own measurements, 1) is this normal and 2) if so how the heck do you get a place like bowlingball.com your measurements???

First off Welcome to the forum.

To answer your questions

1. In my opinion the answer is no that is not normal
that they will not give you your own measurements.

2. You can send in your bowling ball to bowlingball.com
so they can get your measurements and find your PAP so
they can lay out your new ball to do exactly what you want
it to do. They will also pay the shipping charges to and from
them for you so the only thing is you'd be without a ball for a
week or longer.

I think it depends on the person drilling the ball.

The guy that dills my ball will let me keep the sheet he used for measurements but my guess the guy at your shop is just trying to get repeat costumers.

When you do get your measurements you need to have an account on Bowlingball.com. Then you go to "My account > Spec Cards > Add a Spec Sheet" From there you just punch in your measurements. Or you can just mail them your current ball

it's easy, just order the ball online and then bring it to your proshop and have the same guy that drilled your first ball do your second. if your happy with how he drilled your first one, then you know you can trust him to do it again.

most balls online will be like 40-50 dollars cheaper than in the proshop, but that's because in the pro shop the price of drilling is usually included in the ball

You don't need the grip measurements to buy a ball online. Unless you use a online drilling service.

I'm with chrono00 if you like how the pro-shop drilled your ball. Just buy the ball online and take it to him and have him drill it.

As for him not giving you your measurements, he's being a tool. Look him in the eye and ask him again or tell you why.

Most will gladly give you your own measurement. If you think about, you payed for them when you had him fit you so their yours.

If there's another pro shop around take your ball there and ask them to take the measurements off it for you.

I'm gonna guess that your proshop charges $50-$60 to drill a blank ball. I agree with chrono get the ball online and bring it to the shop you'll still end up saving money and you'll help out a local business at the same time.

I found that getting my last ball from the pro shop cheaper than online, he was 20 dollars cheaper than online for my defiant, and if you buy from him its 35 to drill. If you bring him a ball to drill he charges 50. So i have no problem helping the local pro shop by purchasing from him.

What happens if you buy a ball online and something goes wrong with the drilling or it cracks the next day? Who's liable? I'd rather just get it all done in one place.

if something goes wrong with the drilling, the person who drills it would be responsible.

if it were to crack like lets say a HRR, JUST FOR EXAMPLE lol. well then you would wanna contact the ball company with your warranty. if it arrived damaged then you could possibly hold the website liable.

Bowlingball.com has a dill protection for another $5 if you can got it drilled with in 30 days they will send you a new ball. Dont think i will ever use that option tho.
