Default Bad News From the Doc....

Git the results of my tests and X-Rays yesterday concerning the spinal problems I have been having since my first week of the fall 2012 bowling season. At first he thought it was a herniated L-4, but the scans show herniations in L-2, L-3 AND L-4. There is calcification in all three vertebrae (indicating injuries from long ago that I never had treated) and the resultant arthritis. These problems result in extreme pain in my left quad and knee and major spasms in my lower back. I asked him if I would be able to bowl still, and he told me that I could bowl as long as it was without pain. SO I went to my Monday night league and celebrated with a 200/207/233. I know a 640 is not a fabulous score, but I will take it. I had three open frames all night.

I am somewhat relieved as I know the troubles are all treatable, so its ONWARD and UPWARD from here!

Sorry to hear about your injuries, hopefully you can still bowl without pain, a 640 is a good score you should be proud!

Take care of your back, if you start feeling any pain while bowling stop right away, finishing a game is not worth hurting yourself more and not being able to bowl again.

I can sympathizes with you. I had to get x-rays of my back so I could get out of jury duty cause I can't sit for more then an hour without feeling pain. Doctor said I have the start of arthritis,my disks are showing signs of deterioration and my right leg was 8 centimeters shorter then my left. I still bowl most of time without pain, but, their are times I have to take pain meds. Having a trainer has helped as he's been focusing on core strenghtening excersizes. I'll keep bowling til I can't bowl anymore, which is hopefully into my 100's.

Nice way to celebrate. I was thinking on the way to league tonight about how I would handle things when my body would no longer allow me to bowl with the style (or lack there of) I currently use. I bowl some seniors who have lost all the speed and everything but still enjoy themselves. Will I still enjoy it when I can't hit 200 anymore?

Not to worry my Vet friend, I doubt you will even know it! (that your not hitting 200)! Your, (by then 13 wife) will walk up to you after every throw, and rub the oil off your DV10 ball, then ever so gently the slobber, dulling down the left corner of your mouth! She will say, NICE SHOT Honey! Even though it was in the gutter! You will look into her eyes and say,,, Wife number 13, did I hit 200? And her reply is always in a soft plesant low voice yes,, YES my dear,,,, you sure did!! (even thow most times it was well under 100)! Just a small lie for an old bowling warrior with poor eye sight!!

who would care, at that point in Wild Bill's life, a little oil might help the dry weathered skin! I know Bill, and I am sure his comment would be: " whats good enough for my balls, is good enough for my weathered worn out face!" lol

P.S. Now were talking about Bill in his 80's here still bowling!! lol
