Snug, is your coach Bruce from Strike n Spare? If so, he will be my coach as well. Now that you have a feeling for the release, everything should be buttery smooooth.

You guys have made a key contact with that coach. Stick with him and spread the news to your bowling buddies. A good coach is a great thing to find.

Yea, Bruce is really nice and really chilled. No, I have never been to Olatha lanes, but he did meet me Tuesday at one oclock for a lesson at strike and spare. It was suppose to be at noon but he forgot and rushed up there once James opened the shop and called him.

I bowl Thursday nights at strike and spare. I'm in the woodcutter league, i think that's what it is called. starts at 6:45. every type of bowler is in that league from the one hundred average bowler, to the 300 thrower. Lots of 200+ averages up there and hardly any sand baggers.

I actually live in grain valley fatal. But I drive out to independence for league. I know there is lunar bowl out here but meh; I like strike and spare haha . Their lanes are nice and oiled for league, but other then that they are usually dry for open bowl... but i'm sure you have noticed that too.

Where do you bowl at fatal? do you go to strike and spare for just lessons?

I bowl in Olathe. I was at strike and spare on Tuesday getting my equipment fixed. James messed up the pitch in the fingers, drilled them inward pitch instead of forward(oops).(>.<) My hand could not come out of the ball, at all. Bruce actually drilled up a hammer grind for me to throw at league so I wouldn't be out of a ball on Wednesday. Also drilled it to find my pap and to make sure my span is perfect. He's really good at what he does. Very glad Jason recommended him.

What did Bruce tell you in your lesson? Did he video tape you?

sorry for the long delay for a response fatal, Bruce caught me go over the ball and creating spin on the ball and not revolutions. He told be practice staying behind the ball so my thumb will release easier and he wanted me to get the ball to fall of my fingers and while its falling off, turn the ball and give it the revolutions it needs. He showed me how little of effort you really need to put on a bowling ball to get it to curve, seems harder you try to curve it, less it spins

He did video tape me on his phone, which must be new. I talked to people who have used him before and he usually video taped it, but maybe he is going digital (like everything else) .. dunno. I do know he wanted to work specifically on my release, because he knew what i was doing wrong without even watching me bowl. The phone could of been a reference just to show me what im doing at the release point, right then and there on the lane instead of plugging a tv up.

How has your coaching sessions gone? I'm about to schedule another one with him..

*No, I can't coach myself. I can't fix that many problems at once!
I've only had my one lesson yesterday and I can't wait to see what happens when I use it on a normal oiled lane (By the time we actually had me trying to throw a strike, I was on my fifth game and a previous student had bowled six games on that lane so there was no oil.). But I could feel what he means now that I know how to minimize my errors. The changes to my approach prevent me from throwing across my body. I just need to correct my leaning to my right side. Coaching is so worth it.
