A while back, actually quite awhile back, I was living in St. Louis. My home lanes were having some sort of a tournament that was going to be televised the next day. I don't remember what it was. Anyway, there were some open lanes so I grabbed my ball from my locker to shoot a couple of games. (Side note--back in those days you only had one or two balls.) For whatever reason, I was really in the zone that day and shot a 767 series for my 3 games. I had the desk print out my scoresheet just because it was one of my better 3 game sets. I was getting ready to go when I happened to see none other than Earl Anthony and Dick Weber! Earl was going to be one of the TV commentators for the tournament. I went up to them at an opportune time without interrupting them and showed them my scoresheet and asked them to autograph it, which they both did. They were probably patronizing me, but they both commented on how well I bowled and what was my average, and how long I had been bowling, etc. What a thrill!
These two legends were a couple of the nicest most accommodating individuals I ever met. The thermal printed scores have faded, but it still occupies a proud location in my scrapbook!

I had the opportunity to go to bowl against Wayne Webb a few years ago. His brother-in-law bowled on my team and we met Wayne at Helen Newman lanes in Cornell University. Wayne Webb was VERY cool and a load of fun. I also bowled with Gus Lampo (now THERE is a name from a long time ago) at his bowling house near Oneonta, NY and got a surprise coaching session from Dick Ritger at Ides Lanes in Ithaca, NY once...All of these guys were true gentlemen thoguh Gus Lampo was probably the quietest of them al..

Spring of 2011 I bowled a 9-pin no tap proam and met Carmen Salvino. It was the Geico team shoot out in Chicago. Carmen was friendly and signed my bowling pin but we didn't really talk or anything.
As a side note during this tourney, Parker Bohn III was on my pair for a bit and kept giving me crap about needing to hit the head pin. Parker's attitude was awesome, like we're buddys and he's busting my balls. Also, during this tourney I picked up the 4,7,10 in front of Parker and Tom Hess. Was feeling good!
The only bummer, other than my 2nd and 3rd game, was not being able to find PDW and WRWJr not being there. Tell you what though, Missy Belinder is way attractive in person!
In the last few months, I've bumped into two Hall of Famers at two of my local bowling centers.
