I think it is important to have your own pair of shoes just out of a comfort thing and also if it sticks or slides too much it is easier to make adjustments when you own the shoes. If you make them slide more or less one time, the next time you bowl they will/should do the same thing and if not you know you need to make an adjustment. Lane shoes also are worn into the bathroom, outside, food area, bar and could have all kinds of things on them that make the approach dirty. Just saying. Also it will save you in cost of rentals big time. In a few trips to the bowling alley with your own shoes, you would have paid for your own shoes with what you saved on rentals and could spend that money on bowling more games.
