Nice layout. It's a blem with the CG kicked over like that but I prefer them.

How do you figure that's a Blem?

Looks like it has a pretty standard 3" pin and That cg looks to be only maybe a 1" from a line drawn from the pin to the psa.

For it to be a blem (Pro cg) it would have to be over 2.5" away from the line.

Right handed Stroker, high track ,about 13 degree axis tilt. PAP is located 5 9/16” over 1 3/4” up.Speed ave. about 14 mph at the pins. Medium rev’s.High Game 300, High series 798

no idea what you guys are talking about.. haha.. but this ball has a skid snap reaction that goes down the lanes before going in smoothly to the pins

It looked further over to me last night and I could have sworn I saw an X.

I'm going to say personal preference. When layout out the ball you are suppose to draw a line from the pin to the MB through the CG. Obviously when the CG is kicked out (like in the pic), you can't do that. I prefer them to the right of my line after recently getting my Revenge with it kicked so far over that it does have an X engraved over the DV8 logo.

    That's not quite right.

On a Symmetrical ball or ball without a marked mass bias (MB). You draw a line (the Reference line) from the pin through the CG (Center of gravity), Then measure 6 3/4" from the pin on that line and mark that spot and use that spot as the MB.

On a Asymmetrical ball that has a marked MB. You draw the line from the pin to the MB. It doesn't have to go through the CG.

It's not that they are good or bad. Just that they can limit the type of layout you can use, depending on how far off they are.

    Here's the MFG. definition of a Pro-CG:
PRO-CG: A Pro-CG is where the CG ends up a certain distance left or right of the Pin and PSA (preferred spin axis). If you draw a line from the PIN to the PSA on average the CG would need to be 2 ½” or more from that line. That distance will vary depending on if the CG was to the right or left. Although still categorized as a first quality ball it has limited drill options (see our Pro-CG Drilling Options) that requires a certain type of layout. Please consult your pro shop professional before purchasing one of these balls.

How or why is a Pro-CG manufactured? A pro-cg is created during the manufacturing process. When the pin area is being drilled the core can slightly shift. When the weight block shifts just a small amount (1/16” – 1/32”) it pulls the CG off the Y axis towards the Z axis. This is why on some balls you will notice the CG is a far distance away from the Pin to PSA line. These small shifts do not affect the reaction or quality of the product, but it can limit the drilling options. Therefore we offer a different set of drilling instructions and mark them as Pro CG’s.

Also it's not technically a Blem either..

    Blem's, X-blems, x-outs etc are seconds

    2ND QUALITY PRODUCTS

X-COMPS: These products barely missed making the team! X-Comps generally have a cosmetic blemish that in no way effects the reaction of the ball making it nearly as good as a 1st quality bowling ball. The Pin to CG Distance will be 2-4” and the Top Weight will be within 2-4 ounces. An X-Comp will have a C stamped by the serial number. The label on the box is stamped X-Comp and is marked with a small red number that denotes the specific issue.

X-BLEMS: X-Blems are seconds due to a cosmetic blemish similar to an X-Comp, but the specifications fall out of the 2-4” & 2-4 oz range. There are a couple of areas that the ball would not meet some first quality manufacturing specifications (i.e. core chip or an engraving error). Depending on the reason the ball is noted as a blem it may not react the same as a 1st quality bowling ball purchased at full retail. X-Blems will have an X stamped by the serial number.
