Thread: Beat a guy in a cash match, then he tried to fight me.

Default Beat a guy in a cash match, then he tried to fight me.

So there is a guy in my league that is very outspoken, and hates my style. I am a two finger bowler, and he says we have no idea what we are doing. He calls us idiots, and is generaly insulting. So I told him to bowl me for cash, and we will see who knows what they are doing. He has a higher average that me, but at this point I beleived I was better. Well I was correct. I laid the smack down on him. It was a 3 game match, scratch, total wood wins $50. I beat him by 20 or more all three games. During the last game he was cursing at me, trying to distract me. I kept my cool, but when time came to pay up, he just threw the money in my bag and told me to "F off." He said just because I won doesn't prove anything. I said it proves I have his $50, and I'm gonna go get some beer, and I offered to buy a round for him as well. That set him off, and he came up to me and got chest to chest and said I was a punk. He tried to provoke me into hitting him, told me to come out the parking lot. I wasn't afraid of him, I've beaten down guys bigger than him, recently in fact, but I didn't want to fight him at the bowling alley. Eventualy the staff came over and got between us. He is now banned from the league, and the bowling alley for at least a month. Talk about a poor sport. I've never seen anything like it before. Why hate on someone else's style, especially to the point you want to fight them? I love bowling, and I love all styles. I love to see guys with a huge backswing, and smooth delivery. I love the raw power of the two handers. I love my style, a little mix of the two styles. This guy picked on me just because of my style, it's so sad what's going on with all the crybabies in bowling these days.

When alcohol, testosterone, and cash get involved all at once bad things tend to happen. You did the right thing by staying calm, but in the future you should think twice about putting money on a game. There are a few people on various nights that i can bet a buck a strike or lowest pin count buys a drink and that's about the extent of it. No need to up the ante and cause a fuss over a game.

I run into this type of behavior all of the time bowling because I throw a backup ball. Two weeks ago I was having a good night in league and this jerk was talking crap about how I throw the ball and giving me the finger and waving his hands behind my back on approach. I did not say a word to him and just finished off the night with our team winning all 4 games. I'm 6'2 and a former vigilante ( hells angles under mc) and could have broken this guys knees without blinking but I wouldn't even give him the time of day. There are many poor sportsman in every sport with big mouths and crappy lives. You did the right thing keeping your cool and for that I applaud you even more then beating his butt at bowling.

Wow, what a complete tool that guy was. Good for you for lightening his wallet by $50. If I were to have bowled you for cash and you won, I'd not only pay up with a handshake and a smile but I'd be the one offering to buy the first round. Bowling is supposed to be fun, after all.

I've challenged a few guys who talked crap about my style before. No of them acted quite like this guy though. Some guys still had comments, especially the one who beat me, but in the end we were all cool. All the other guys, when I won I did on fact buy them a beer afterward. Of course, becuase they were humans, when I offered them a beer they didn't get insulted.

You did the right thing. Some people just don't get it and never will. Others eventually see the light. Sounds like this jerk will always be in the dark.

Getting upset like that just makes him look like an even bigger idiot. Great job on keeping cool. I dont know what i would have done.

Like I said I can take care of myself if need be, but it's easy to relax when you have a friend who trains MMA sitting at the table watching.

Wow. What an ***. Sorry for such a poor sportsmanship experience. If I had lost to you and you offered to buy me a drink, I would make it more than one drink to make you use that money you just won on my drinks. I would have ordered the most expensive drink they had. Haha...Would have been funny too. But I would have still talked **** just to mess with you. hahaha...
