Default How do you line up your body for coast to coast bowling?

I am a lefty to start out with so you can tell me in righty bowling terms and I will just reverse it. When you are standing all the way left to throw to your breakpoint right how do you line up your body? On the approach is your whole body facing where your breakpoint will be so the ball will cross over the third arrow from the left or the middle arrow? Or do your feet face straight ahead and just your upper body is turned open slightly to throw over the third or middle arrow to the break point? When I watch video of pros throwing coast to coast it looks like they are not facing the break point but making almost a straight approach but with a little drift to the right to throw to their break point. What is really the way to set up if throwing coast to coast?

depends on how you like to stand ik people that ahve there feet streght and turn there body abitand other people that turn there feet and body but with me i keep my upper body turned left of my target cause on my backswing my shoulder goses back soo it turns my body and i hit my target 75% of the time mostly miss from dropping my shoulder or pulling the ball, but with my feet i have them face right to there i want the ball to go and i put it there sometimes on my approach i will stride left so on the approach i adjust my feet.

I angle my feet and body yet walk straight. By setting up this way my body knows what angle I want at the end. It's also how I shoot corner pin spares. I read it in a US Bowler magazine last year by Kim Terrell-Kearney and have been using it since with success.

I am still learning how to do this right, but there are a few thing I find crucial when I do it personally. I am right handed so you got to switch around if I say right. Like, I start with my right foot starting at my left ancle. I also have my hand that holds the ball, further out infront of the ball. Kind like my left hand is as forward as my left foot. I have not been paying attention to my shoulders before the release, but I probably should. I wonder. Anyhow, on the release it is extremely important for me to have my shoulders to be squared (pointed) at the breakpoint down lane. Beyond the body position, I really try to rev the hell out of the ball using a good cup and uncupping process, I no longer hit up on the ball at the end for alot of reasons I don't want to get into.

What you're describing, I think, is swinging the ball. I would tell you to face your breakpoint. This position should give you a better position at the line enabling you to have a swing slot towards your target and break point. If you were facing straight at the line you would have to force the ball out to your left in order to hit both targets. That would not be a natural position and tough to be accurate. Feet should also be pointed toward the same area.

I guess what I should do is line up my body like I am going to shoot at the 7 pin but keep my hand cupped or cocked to keep up the revs. I am a lefty. No jokes about that please. I forgot to add that I need a ball that has a layout that will work for coast to coast bowling. I mean a plastic ball is not going to be good for coast to coast travel. At least I don't think it would work.

UH, there's not many bowlers I've seen that can shoot 20-30 to the 5 board with a plastic ball and have it come back. If you can do that, then you'll definitely have trouble with an aggressive ball. I hope you're at least shooting on a decent oil pattern that'll help get you a little ball slide out to the first transition point.

There are a lot of balls that will help you achieve that look of the ball. Check http://www.bowlingball.com, and look at their perfect scale to figure out just how aggressive you want the ball to be. Good luck.

Chances are good that I will not be a coast to coast bowler because I don't have a ball with a layout for it and I am not a high rever or cranker. Plus you have to be pretty accurate with a shot like that to strike consistently. Being a lefty I usually put my slide foot(right foot) toe on the center dot or maybe 2 boards right of the center dot and throw over the second arrow from the left. If it is not hooking enough I make slight moves left and hooking too much slight moves right.

You're right about the accuracy thing. Stay to your left as you're doing and you won't be sorry. Best shot for consistency.
