Thread: Kids first hook ball

    Default Kids first hook ball

I am looking for some advice for my 10 year old. He is still throwing a plastic ball and i want to get him into a ball that hooks. What is a good entry level ball in the 10 pound variety? I am a storm guy through and through. Always have been, always will be. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.

The Columbia Freeze is a nice ball. That one was mine and it taught me good. I think its cheaper than the Slingshot, not sure. Whatever the ball, he'll love it ha ha.

What weight is he using? Some companies vary the core to a generic below a certain weight (manufactures differ at what weight).

do you think he can handle a bit more? at 8lb i doubt you will find a ball without a generic core as bill said. perhaps if you could get him up in weight more before worrying about hook.

At that weight it's going to be hard to find a ball that doesn't have a pancake weight block. Brunswick uses the same core to 12 pounds. Storm uses different cores for 14-16 and 12 & 13. Let me do more research and see what I can find under 10 pounds.
