Default Bowling pin shooting night at the range..

I like bowling and all, but my favorite kind of bowling has to be the bowling pin shoots we have at our local shooting range.. Every Thurs. night after the range closes, we have a group of guys that all throw 10$ in the pot, we line 5 pins up on tables 20 or so feet away, 3 mags with 5 rounds each, and race to see who can shoot them off of the table first. It's loads of fun, teaches you how to focus and shoot under pressure. At the end of the night, the winner gets his pick of ammo, or free range time, really awesome way to blow off steam, learn a lot about guns from the old timers, etc.

    Anyone else do any shooting?

I grew up shooting. When I was 4 or 5 my dad gave me a single shot bolt action .22 That wouldn't fly nowadays, but in the early 80's you could get away with it. We had 180 acres and I was in the woods hunting/shooting as long as I can remember. Then my dad got his FFL license and we had a gun shop in the house. I went to the Army out of High school and shot pretty much every weapon they had to offer. I even pleaded with our armorer to let me take out the old grease gun in the arms room and shoot it. I don't go to any ranges to shoot now I just go to friends houses and pop off a few rounds here and there. My buddy just recently bought a .50 cal bmg that we have been having a "blast" with. Now that one is getting old and he's looking at a 20mm

I do more than my fair share of shooting. In the office part of the day and at our company private range the rest doing R&D. Weekends are long range matches. I get in about 60-75k rounds down range a year.

I've shot tons of guns and rifles. My favorite was the Mauser 86SR that was issued to me by Uncle Sam. The M-16 and Beretta were a joke. Made a sniper shot once with an M-2 Browning with the head space and timing set purposely incorrect for a single shot (May 19, 1991 3,674 meters). Shot a camel in the *** with an AK-47 at 1,200 meters. Being diagnosed with PTSD I've chosen to not touch any firearms except what I've taken out of others hands.

You shoot firearms in your office?

Not in the office. I am in the office part of the day and the rest is at our range. There are times I wish I could shoot in the office but it wouldn't be PC.

Damn, A zulu. That's some hardcore stuff right there. I had the recruiters ask me to go to 00B school, (I was a 12B) but I heard some crazy stuff about that training. I did go through sapper school and played my two weeks in sfas If I wouldn't have had two young kids I would have stayed in longer, but as you know there is no stability in that career.

I always loved to shoot the pins at my old range...the new range doesnt allow it. My pride and joy is a custom made Wilson Combat CQB Elite in 10mm Auto. I handload and what that pistol will do to a target is unbelievable.

Dave, I put it there knowing that those who know what it means would understand while the others would just think I hit a bunch of buttons by accident. There is stability in that career. You can stay until you screw up, get hurt or die. When I got hurt they were going to take away my jump status and put me in an office. I couldn't stand the thought of that at the time so I ETSed much to everyone's surprise. I knew a permanent profile against running would end my career right where it was. I miss that job every day but also know that I wouldn't have been able to do it much longer either and definitely couldn't do those things now.
