Default Just got throttled last night in league

Well our team last night at league got throttled. It was more of a massacre by four really attractive women. They were really cool to hang around and gave us high fives when we missed the 99% of the spares and told us “nice try”. We had to overcome 187 pins for their handicap but we never got close and they knew it was not going to happen. The lanes were drier than toast from the two other leagues that played before our league.
Our best bowler struggled to pull out a 186 and the rest of us stayed 140 averages and as low as 102 (I didn’t do it). I am the tag along on our team as the other guys pull out scores over 200 every game. The 2 crankers on our team flat out had a nightmare without oil they couldn’t get near the gutter because it was going in the drink if they even thought about it. I used my weakest ball and had to play the inside the 5 board and that still had me going hard left of the head pin every time. If any pins on the right didn’t go down there was no way for me to get them. I tried everything I could and I think I picked up 3-4 spares and 6-7 “Brooklyn” strikes all night.
The lovely ladies stepped on our throats and didn’t let up with the pink plastic balls. The vixens’ just walked up and slow rolled it, walked away and had their beer in their hand and watched the amazing speed of 5.7 MPH ball meander down the lane and take out the pins. It didn’t matter how many…they knew we couldn’t catch them. But they always gave us a high five as they walked off the deck. Oh the inhumanity those soulless girls had. We were tied for first place in league and after last night I vow to own a plastic ball before the week is out. I think we could have done a little better if we let our pride go and picked up a house ball. I was too busy crying inside and smelling my ball rag with the lingering smell of oil that I missed wiping off before each shot. I learned I would rather deal with too much oil than none at all.

I had a similar experience lately on my last session of open bowling. The lanes were quite dry, and I couldn't find a decent line to the pocket. Played 6 games like that without breaking 170 (the first game didn't even break 100 - ugh the embarrassment), then in sheer desperation I asked my girlfriend for advice. She said she had always been taught to roll it over the second arrow, so I moved left (I'm a lefty) directly in front of that arrow, threw it with just a little bit of hand in it, and voila, a strike. Bowled a couple more games doing that and topped out at 211 - a huge improvement. Worth a try next time the lanes are so dry that the Pink Plastic Ball types are throwing strikes.

I tried everything other than going to the snack stand and asking for cooking oil to put on my ball. I added speed, took revs off, moved my line more times than I care to think about. At one point I even got down as low as I could to the floor like a golfer finding the line to make a putt just looking for a trace of oil. I had my team rolling with laughter on that move. On the last game in the 10th frame I went right over the 5 board praying it would for once go long and then in and it cut hard left across the pins right into the gutter without touching a pin. Took revs off and over the same mark and did it again. I was glad the ordeal was over really.

At least u got beat by cute chicks! Maybe you should have just copied their style. Throw it slow and straight, and walk away.

Ouch, thats unfortunate, the ally really should be reoiling the lanes between leagues, being the third league to play on the same oil is rough. normally when playing on bone dry lanes i speed my ball up and let my wrist break down to lower revs.

just remember, your there to have fun, win or loose just enjoy yourself!

I know how you feel! I was in a Vegas league couple yrs ago and bowled against a team that had 400+ handicap and they obliterated the league so bad that people said they would'nt come back unless the teams were made more fair by limiting the amount of low avg you can have on a team,or used a different handicap system. BTW-2 players had 90 or under avg and the other 2 had 120ish avg and at 90% of 230 well you know the outcome.

Oh wow. So it's all about the team that can beat their average. And the lower average teams have the best chances.

I had the same thing happen but not with a team of lady's. The line has zero oil on them. It was oiled just before league too. i think the oiler ran out of oil when they ran it on the lanes I was on. I'm a cranker and the two main balls I had with me was a Hammer Taboo and Hammer Taboo Jet black with a C300 white dot. I was standing in the lane on the left and lofteing the ball past the arrows just to get it near the pocket.

I had the exact opposite experience last night. Usually the lanes are dry and my bag is full of dry loving balls. Last night though the lanes were drenched in oil. Then to make things worse everyone on the other team threw a straight ball with zero consistency, so the oil was pulled all over the place. I actually slowed down and watched the ball, you could see it start to break and then it would hit the pulled oil and slide some more I managed to stay within my average range, but it was a struggle.
