Thread: Shoe sole question

    Default Shoe sole question

Hi, I've been bowling for a long time but 5pin and am starting to get into 10pin... just joined a league about a month ago. Point of that is my bowling style is a bit of a hybrid mess now and a lot different from how I see others approach. I need to buy some shoes and most (all?) of the shoes I've seen online have a "microfiber S8" sole. I'm used to seeing all the good shoes having a teflon sole. Does this micro fiber slide better or not as good as teflon? Just wanted to know if I should steer clear of the micro fiber soles.

    Thanks for any help!

I believe the bowling shoes you buy today are microfiber. From what i've read microfiber is suppose to be more versitle on synthetic lanes that may be slightly sticky, plus on shoes llike the Dexter SST 8's the soles can be changed with other soles for a customary slide.

All the good bowling shoe have Teflon soles?? I never seen any bowling shoes come with teflon soles.

The only Teflon used was the Master Tru-slide, that was a add-on piece for people who have a problem sticking and don't have the interchangable soles.

The "microfiber S8" sole is what they have replaced the discontinued Yellow Leather S8 (Buck skin) sole with (you can still get a replacement). I prefer the buck skin myself , I like the slide and it lasts longer.
