    Default The slide

I spent what practice time I had today on my slide. I want more slide and not the plant that I went to when bowling blind. Why? Well I stay under the ball real well which gives me a long flat spot at the bottom. That's a good thing. Adding a few inches of slide with it should, in theory, give me a larger margin of error in my release to get the timing correct. I was happy with the timing and ball reaction today. Tomorrow, when I sub in the morning, will be the true test. The sole is now broken in and I'm sure I will have forgot that I changed the sole. I planted with an S8 and went to the S10 sole and H5 heel. It definitely helped my finish position as the balance leg seemed to snap back into proper position without thought.

When I first started bowling 3 years ago, I did not slide. Once I started taking my game a little more serious, I worked on sliding. Once I got the hang of it, my game got so much better. It helped me in every way. It made my delivery flow better, made me smoother, and made throwing the ball easier. I don't slide a lot, but just having that little bit helps.

I'm not sure if they do exist. I would have to dig out the chart that came with the shoes. I have purchased other brands of soles and heels and they also fit and work with the shoes. Velcro is velcro lol

So to ask the newbie question....How should I best work on adding or improving slide during practice bowl sessions. Other than mental focus, are there specific drills I should perform?
I live by three simples rules:

    1. Don't ever ask about my business
    2. Never discuss business at the table
    3. Don't ever side with anyone against the family

Usually before leagues or practice I will take several practice slides on the lanes. This does 2 things! 1)Tells me if some idiot was using powder, thus making the lanes really slippery,2)Lets know if some idiot spilt something on the lanes to make them sticky and 3)Helps me in preventing the hard slide were by you plant to hard and throw your timing, armswing and balance off.

Tonight was rough as at times I would slide and others plant. The slide definitely works better and feels better.
Increase slide? Get a deeper knee bend with weight on the balls of the feet/toes. Too big of a step going into the slide causes the dreaded plant.

STOP THINKING SO MUCH! your over analyzing your slide, just do what comes naturally (what you can repeat 100000000 times

Hey Bill, would a sliding sock over your slide shoe help out if you stick with your regular soles? I was thinking of getting one in case I start sticking during league play. My shoes do not have the changeable soles and heels.
