Default What is the easiest way to adjust a new ball for more hook?

After it is drilled I guess you can't change the layout. The only thing I heard of is to rough up the surface with an abralon pad. My new Blue Hammer could use just a little more hook to the pocket. If I can't get it I can stick with what it has now. I guess that I am just spoiled by my Raw Hammer Anger.
What I should try is to take some of the hook out of the Raw. A little more hook on the Blue and a little less on the Raw and I will have one heck of a two ball arsenal. I will have to give that a try. I just got myself excited. YEAH!

Adjust the coverstock is easiest! If all else fails plug and redrill. I would have the pro shop take the cover to 1500-2000 and see if that gets more hook.

Easiest way is surface. But depending on top and side weights you could probably add a p3 or p4 weight hole. I would try surface first though.

The O.O.B. on the Blue Hammer is 800/1000/2000/4000 Abralon.

I'd hit it with 1000 see how it does, if you want more go to 800.

That is what I thought would be the easiest way to gain or lose more hook. I never realized different things you can do to a ball just by working the balls surface. I learned quite a bit about bowling coming to this forum site. I am glad I came here.

I forget who it was, but there was an old pro bowler who used to say ( before urethane and reactive resin ) that he could make a bowling ball do anything he wanted with a quarter and a piece of sandpaper. The quarter was for the ball polishing machine. If he's sill around he must have amended it to a couple bucks and a set of abralon pads.

That was my ball maintenance plan back in the 80's. 600 grit wet dry sandpaper manually, and a few quarters in the polishing machine. But that was with urethane. Never needed to sand/polish plastic or rubber balls.

The Anger comes at 2000 so if you take it to 4000 you will add some length. It will also be s;ightly more angular. My thought would be to go 500/4000which would cut down on the angularity some compared to going 500/1000/2000/4000. As far as the blue is conscerned going to 1000 will make it earlier and smoother with more overall boards crossed
Still love the game but had to quit because of my left leg amptation
