Bill is correct. Doing that can harm you and don't forget - leverage is key and bending the elbow at the release point takes away leverage. Most high rev crankers bend their elbows and cup their wrists only to straighten them at the release point to maximize revs. I cannot do that sort of thing. I was trained to lock the elbow throughout the swing and I have alway stuck with it...

When I bend my elbow at all in my swing, I lose some ball motion and harder to stay under the ball.

If it's the follow through then the ball is already gone and not a problem.

i would say i do it more right as the ball leaves my hand cuz i get more lift and you can see the ball go out more onto the lane

I remember back in the late 80's bowling on wood lanes, then I experienced synthetic and I never went back to wood again.

Wish there was a center near me for that league, I'd do it in a minute. That's a great deal plus no pressure.

    don't do that!

if you want to apply more hook there are a few things you can do:

cup your hand (get under the ball) to give yourself more leverage
    cock your wrist
increase your release movement: instead of holding your thumb at 1 o clock and rotating to 10, start at 2 o clock.

don't resort to trying to force the ball to hook via bad habits, it will not help in the long run

Edit: didn't read the second page LOL
