Default Contemplating a switch to a two-handed delivery

Starting a separate thread on this since I hjiacked Hammer's resin ball thread. Like the title says I'm contemplating a change from a one handed delivery to a two handed delivery. I know some people really hate the two handed style, and some hate lefties so since I'm contemplating throwing a left-handed two hand delivery, I just may become the most hated man in bowling history (LOL), but I feel like I'm at a point where I should try it and either get it out of my system or if I like it, practice it seriously. Curious for feedback from other folks who have made the same change and how it worked out for you.

    Thanks all!

Depends how old you are? I have heard from a lot of people that it really puts a strain on lower back from all the twisting, which is why you don't see a lot of 2 handed bowlers.

I heard this as well, however just because it puts a bit more strain on the back doesn't mean you can't do it. look at WRWJ, he is over 50 and can do it

as long as you put your mind to it, you can achieve anything!

I have played with two handed a little. I bowl without my thumb anyway, so its pretty close to what I do anyway. If you want to try it, go for it. There's a guy in my league who just switched to two handed, and he's in his mid 40's. The biggest issue is control. U have to remember that even though your using two hands, you are still only throwing it with one. Study videos of Belmo and Osku. I think within 5 years, u are going to start seeing a whole lot of two handers.

The biggest problem right now is the fact that coaches aren't prepared as much to coach 2 handers, but i think i read somewhere (could have been here lol) that belmo is working with usbc to get a 2 handed coaching program set up

Yes, BillF posted that a few times. That is one of the reasons I have learned two handed (as well as a traditional 3 finger delivery.) I want to know everything I can about other deliveries, in case I ever want to teach them.

There was Project Two Hands back in 2010, I watched a few of those videos on youtube which has many useful tips on the two handed style that I'll be using on Friday.

Yes, good video, lots of tips there. Also an epic goatee as well. Wonder if that guy stuck with it? I'm on the way out the door, yo the bowling alley, maybe i'll bowl a game two handed tonight.

I know three people who bowl two-handed. They did it because they couldn't figure out one handed. Turned out they had trouble figuring out two handed as well. With some work with a jerk coach who doesn't take excuses, they can now control their ball rotation to help adjust and pick up spares. One of them was trying to be upright at the start position. At least all three have improved by 30 pins so far this year. They all say it's a back strain and real hard to get the adjustment right when the speed it off when tired but it still looks cool.
